Meal plan?

We are taking our 4 and 6 yr olds to the parks in May for the first. What do you guys think of the meal plan for the family, is it worth it? How many sit down meal tickets do you need to use for a character meal, I've heard one and then I just read two? My 4 yr old has an eating disorder and only can eat yogurts and puddings and is just starting to eat pasta, so are we going to be able to find things for him to eat at every meal? I can bring pudding from home. Any thoughts on the meal plan would be helpful to me, thanks. Nancy

Well, you have a unique situation with the eating disorder, so you might have to speak to someone at each restaurant to ensure that the needs are met. In my experience the meal plan is worth it. Most character meals take one credit, but the character meals in the castle at MK take 2. If you would have to pay $9.99 before tax and tip OOP for the character meals then the dining plan at $10.99 would be a great deal--you will still have CS and a snack left for the day.

Try heading over to allearsnet.com and checking out the menus and prices. Do a little rough math on what you think you'll eat/spend (add on tax and tip) and then compare it to what the family would spend on the dining plan plus any OOP expenses if you plan on eating the 3rd meal each day. If you want a character meal or sit-down meal each day, it's often hard to beat the plan. If you want to be careful with your choices and stick to counter service, then you may come out ahead without it. For DD8 and I on our last trip, the plan allowed us to spend approximately what we would have on CS meals, but eat at TS places and character meals, plus get snacks each day - and with the right timing, we didn't need the 3rd meal each day.

As far as the eating disorder, the menus I mentioned above will help, but I have a hard time imagining that most sit-down places won't quickly cook up a little pasta for you if you explain the situation. You can contact each restaurant ahead of time if you like, but you're asking for pasta, not beef wellington, so I'd guess you'll be ok. A lot of breakfast places and food courts will also have yogurt.
