Meal Plan - value for money?

It's been a few years since I was last at DLP and on this forum, but the bug has bitten us again, so we are booking a 4-night trip for October. I was going to book hotel only (New York) but thought I would consider the Meal Plan. I seem to remember this being quite good value for money. However, this evening's quote is for £448 for Half Board Plus for 2 adults and 2 children, covering Mon-Frid (i.e. 4 nights). This does seem pricey (I seem to remember a meal for 4 cost around 100 Euros, which would be less than this, but prices may have inflated since I was last there in 2011). Is the Meal Plan value for money or are you as well paying as you go along? I am a Disney Shareholder so will get 10% off (once I organise a membership card replacement). Thanks! :)

as a shareholder club member you get 15% off table and buffet service meals at DLP - so there is absolutely no point in buying any kind of meal plan, as you won't save anything like 15% these days having a meal plan - its just not as good value as it was, say, 5 years ago.
