ME timing to park

I need to go to a park before check in (upgrading GAD to premier AP to get AP rate). My flight gets in at 5:45 pm. Epcot and MK close at 9.

I'm using ME. Will that get me to a park in time? I'm kind of hoping I can get dropped off at a hotel near one of those parks (maybe on the monorail loop).

As I understand it, you can not take a bus to another resort other than the resort in which you are registered. When you show your ME booklet to the CM, you will direct to the line for the bus for your resort. Your coupon booklet is then scanned by the bus driver.
If you need to get to a park on your arrival date to give yourself plenty of time I would check the park hours for the park that has evening EMH. Once you check into your resort head over to that park.
If your flight lands at 5:45 and assuming that it lands on time, you should be to your resort by 7:30 maybe earlier but I would count on it being about 7:30.
You should have plenty of time to get to a park.

I would also check with the front desk workers or maybe a manager if you can, and see if they will treat your reservation like an AP rate and they will let you show your AP the next day. If not then you still should have enough time (you wont be able to dilly dally though) to get to a park to get your upgrade done.
One thing, will the actual guest relation places be open that late to get an AP? You dont do those at the ticket window do you? I'm sure someone will clear that up also.

I believe you have to take M.E. bus to the resort you are staying at first. Figure about :90min to your hotel. I'm not sure which hotel you are staying at, but assuming its not one on the monorail line so I would factor in approx
:40min to get from hotel to MK.

So I would think you would get to your hotel approx. 7:15p and probably at MK by 8pm.

When are you going? If it is during peak times (Easter, spring break) ME can sometimes take longer than the general 70 minutes from landing. Still you should make it.

Isn't there also a ticket kiosk/window at DTD? I bet that one would be open late.

I may be totally wrong on this, but I think I heard that GAD vouchers need to actually be used...making DTD not an option. I'd love to be wrong on that...

(Oh, and traveling in May so I'm hoping 70 minutes is a reasonable estimate.)

Yes, Nala83 - the Give a Day, Get a Day voucher needs to be
  • first redeemed for the one day Magic Your Way park admission ticket at the Will Call window at any of the four major theme parks;
  • then used to enter a park and brought to Guest Services inside that park that same day to be upgraded.

Thanks for clarifying. I'll just cross my fingers and hope that the timing works out...and if it doesn't hopefully the CM at the resort will show me some mercy!

Check at your resort front desk first. Many times they will tell you that you cabn check-in and get the AP rate, but that you have to return the following evening and show them the AP..otherwise they can charge you rack rate.

Since you have your GAD voucher, you don't have to stand in the resort front desk check in line before going to the park to process the voucher and get your AP. Easier to beat park closing that way.

I mentioned stopping at the front desk so as to possibly be able to check in, using the AP rate, without going to a park first. I believe that was the OP's issue...being able to get to a park to validate her voucher and turn it in for an AP in order to get the AP resort rate. THe resort checkin CMs may very well tell her that she doesn't need to show the AP right then..that she can get the AP the following day, using the GAD voucherd towards it when they head to a park, and then return to the checkin area of the resort and show them the AP in order to get the AP rate.

I did the online check-in. When I got to POR they gave me the packet with my room key and off I went. When I reached my room I realized they never checked my AP. I had it but no one ever checked.:goodvibes

I used a GAD voucher two weeks ago and upgraded to a 5 day pass immediately, without entering the park. The CM had no issue upgrading the ticket (and I checked the math to ensure I received 100% value credit for the one day voucher).

Does anyone know if the GAD voucher can be redeemed and upgraded at the International Gateway at Epcot? We'll be going to the Boardwalk our first evening there and would like to take care of that then, so we'll be ready to hit the ground running the next morning. Thanks!

Kathy
