ME Scenario with questions...

We originally decided to use ME for our trip in Sept., but since our initial ressie have changed our plans and decided to go to US the first day. (We will get a rental from Alamo for 3 days and return it to the Dolphin) My question is..can we still have our luggage go to our hotel with the ME luggage tags and just go our merry way to the Alamo line and not worry about our luggage and just let ME handle it? I'm sure we could save some time by doing that.Any thoughts?

Nope, can't do that. However, unless you have the maximum luggage of two per person. One person in your group can head for the Alamo line, and the rest of your group can head for Magical Express with all of the luggage tagged for the folks that won't be going to Alamo.

For example, four people, six pieces of checked luggage. Three folks can take Magical Express and put all six pieces of luggage in their name. The fourth person can head over to the Alamo desk.

Whoever arrives first can handle the checkin stuff, then when everyone arrives, you can hop in the car and head over to Universal (if by first day you mean checkin day)

I'm confused..doesn't the luggage go separately to the resort without the guest handling it? My concern was that we might have to check in with ME for some reason or other. We want to bypass all that and get the car and go directly to US.

Yes, the luggage goes separately to the resort without the guest handling it. HOWEVER, they DO NOT put the tagged luggage on the luggage truck UNTIL guests check in with the Magical Express transport service and board the bus. So if you tag your luggage, then head off to the Alamo counter and don't use the bus, your luggage will stay at the airport!!

I guess I'm confused also. To DisDee....where are you staying when you first get to Orlando? Are you staying at a WDW resort but just renting a car to go to US? Or are you staying offsite and then moving on-site later?

Edited to say...never mind...it looks like you'll be at Pop. I would send everyone else to DME and one person can get the car.

It sounds like what DisDee wants to do is have Magical Express take their luggage, go to Alamo, then drive straight to Universal, spend the day there, then proceed to Pop Century and check in later that evening.

Magical Express doesn't work that way. In order for your luggage to be transported to your Disney resort, at least some of your party has to get on the Magical Express bus and go to the resort.

On a separate note, the resort folks don't even like storing your luggage if you are not checking in immediately.

Me and hubby arrived by town car once, and handed our luggage to the luggage folks at All-Stars, we looked at the line and saw it was huge, so then we turned right around to head for the bus stop. (We had annual passes, so didn't NEED to check in to go to the parks). The luggage folks stopped us and said we really needed to go ahead and check in so that they could get our luggage on the delivery schedule. We went inside and waited in the line for about 5 minutes, then bailed and went out the door through the gift shop and went on to the parks anyway. When we did finally check in about 2am after Pleasure Island closed, we had to carry our own luggage, plus the folks at check-in said they would have preferred to not have this unclaimed luggage sitting in the storage area.
