ME/Room Assignment/Luggage Question

Has anyone ever had their luggage beat them to their room (assuming you went straight to the resort and checked in)? Or do they not actually take your luggage to the room until check in? I am hoping for an upgrade at check in, and I am wondering how that would work if we change from an "assigned" room to a "upgraded" room...what happens to the luggage?

I have not yet had my luggage beat me to the room, but it has happened on occasion, from what I hear.

In any case, if you manage to whangle an upgrade, your luggage will find you. It may take a little longer, but it will all get there.

Not your exact question but I booked a standard room at AKL. When I checked in I started to ask about a King bedded room. The desk clerk politely cut me off and said I was already upgraded to Savannah view. I think if you're going to get an upgrade there is a very good chance it will be already granted before you check in.

If you change your initially assigned room you might want to follow up if you don't get your luggage within a few hours. At least one poster didn't get their luggage and it turned out it was delivered to their initially assigned room.

It sounds like those where it "beats" the people to the room are cases where the person checks in and the room is not available yet. They go do something else and when they get back and get the room number, the luggage is in the room. So it gets to the room before they do, but not before they checked in.

Our experience 2 weeks ago was that we checked in about 12:30 PM at the Beach Club Villa. Our assigned room was not ready. I was given a telephone number and told I could begin calling to see if the4 villa was available as early as 2 PM (Even though check-in isn't officially until 4 PM). I called about 3 PM and it was ready. We went from Epcot to the Beach Club Villas and when we first went to our room, our luggage was already there.
