ME Question

Hi, Everyone --

I've never used ME and I have a question. First let me explain the situation:

I had made a room only reservation in only my name and then my niece and sisters decided they would like to join me. But of course, they couldn't make it easy. My niece and I will be arriving at WDW on September 22. On September 26 my niece checks out and my 2 sisters will be checking in.

I called yesterday to see about splitting the reservation and adding my niece to the first part and my sisters to the second part. I was transferred around to 4 different people and it came down my choices being adding everyone for the whole reservation and paying $400 in extra adult fees for the whole 8 days or just adding my niece for now and adding my sisters when I get down there. I chose door number 2.

Now my question is: when do I have to add them to the reservation for them to show up in the system and them be able to use ME? If I go down to the desk at the Wilderness Lodge early in the morning on the 26th and add them will that be enough time? Should I add them the day before? I know they should go to the ME desk when they land and check in to get a bus. What about the return trip to MCO? Should they just go to the ME desk at the hotel the day before we check out to give them their flight information and get registered for a bus?

Theoretically, you should be able to add them the day before they are due to arrive. As far as return to the airport, same thing. Do it the day before they gave to leave.
Your niece will be able to have her info added at the start. Then, the day before your sisters are due to arrive, go down to have them added for arrival the next day, and make their DME reservations at this time. That 'should' work.
Family never makes it easy, do they??!!

What really irks me is that at first they said "oh don't worry about it we'll just take cabs back and forth to the airport". A couple of months later they were complaining about how much the cab was going to cost.

I think for payback I'll tell them they have to pick up there luggage when they arrive and take it on the bus with them. That will give my niece and I more time to shop at DTD that morning before we have to meet them!!

If it were me, I would tell 'em there is no way to add them so they can take DME. But, I tend to be a bit nasty at times. They can take the Mears shuttle for about $20 one way...just book it when they get to MCO and they will likely be put on a DME bus.

But, keep in mind that if you do add them the day before, they will have to get their own bags. They won't have luggage tags, so they will have to get the bags, or give their claim receipts to the DME people.

I mean, seriously, are they paying you for their share of the room?? They should be able to get themselves to the resort...it's about $40 one way for a cab...that's $20 each!!! They can take DME back. But, then again....that's me being nasty.
