Hi All-

Leaving Wednesday night and will not get into MCO until after 11PM. We have signed up for ME and have received our tags but Im wondering about what happens once we arrive at MCO. I was told by a CM that luggage may not arrive at our room until 3 hours later?! Are we talking 2AM?!!! Is it possible to take our own luggage from the carosel and carry it over to the bus pickup for ME? Will it be quicker? And how long does it take for the bus to pick us up? I am holding a car with National if this turns into a nightmare- I just need some specifics on the service. We will have three very tired children in tow and are looking forward to not having to deal with a rental and for someone else to do the driving. But, if we will be waiting for a bus from MCO to the resort for an hour and waiting for our luggage for three I don't think it will be worth it! Any help is appreciated...

Real easy. Your choice:

1) Don't use the DME bar coded tags and get your own luggage. The driver will put your luggage under the bus. You should tip the driver.

2) Use the DME bar coded tags and let DME get your luggage. Make sure you bring enough carry on luggage for your first night. Ask bell service to hold your luggage. Give them a call when you wake up and they'll delivery your luggage. You don't even have to be in the room. They'll do it while you're at breakfast.

3) Let them delivery it ASAP. It might be 3:00a or even later. They don't run as many luggage trucks that late.

I'd go with option 2.

I had the same dilemma for my October trip, just me and my dd's arriving at 9pm. I opted not to tag my bags and claim them myself and bring them on the ME bus. I did not want luggage delivery in the middle of the night. I ended up in the ME line with a few other families on our flight who had not claimed luggage so this didn't "cost" me any extra time.

Unfortunately, we had to wait a over an hour for the bus to AKL and then stop at POP and one Allstar prior to arrving at AKL. I will consider long and hard before using ME again. Even though the CM's were trying to entertain with trivia games and such we were tired and wanted to get to the resort. It was to hot to sit outside and there was no where to sit inside while waiting for the bus to arrive.

I agree with TJ I arrived on an 11 something pm flight. I thought OK I will just get my own luggage and have put under the bus. We sat at MCO from 12:15 to 1:30. We stopped at a deluxe first ( AKL I think) then at CBR then at ASsp. Bus driver told me on the QT he stops at deluxe then mod then value as he is tired of all the deluxe people complaining about going in the order of who is closest to furthest. OK now we are at ASsp it is around 2am and there is only 1 (one) cm to check us in. There are 5 families. As I was walking in I saw 3 cm's go out back, for whatever. When the CM at the desk was almost done checking me in 2 CM appeared back and started checking in the other families. I finally got to my room at 2:53 am. They put me in a room that was so far in the back of the resort. I almost left my suitcases on someone elses doorstep. There was NO BELL services. I asked they said it may take a few hours for the luggage to get to the room. It was almost 3 am you cant tell me it was that busy. LOL

Next time I think I would either take an earlier flight or make sure I had other transportation arrangements. Way to late to be taking that much time to get to hotel to get settled.

Then again we used for an 11 am arrival in May that was great. 10 minute wait at the airport for the bus, checkin was about 20 minutes (WLodge).

I am so glad I asked my questions! I think we will keep our rental at National and skip ME for this trip. But I will definitely try it when not arriving so late. Thank you all! These boards are just wonderful!

If you are going to skip the ME why not just book a one way towncar for about 65 bucks(including tip) and then use ME on the way back. If I was arriving that late with kids who are cranky I want a person waiting for me and I want to be taken right to the resort with my luggage. Or if you want to keep the car just use it for that night and return at the Dolphin or Car care center the next day that way you only pay for a car you need that one night and then use ME on the way back. I think you can do just return on the ME. Again I wouldn't want to be picking up a car and then figuring out how to get to my resort. Just a thought.

That is a good idea especially if your using a "participating airline" that can check your bags on the return to MCO.
