A family in our grand gathering will be flying on Continental this December. I need to know if they can use the yellow bag tags or not...

The flight has them going from Calgary to Houston to Orlando.

Anyone?! TIA :flower3:

Thank you so much!! One less procedure for me to explain, so that's wonderful news

We did it a few years ago no problem - this year we will be doing it via Denver. Works out great - our only issue is timing on the bus - last time we arrived at a nasty time (missed connection don't even ask) of around 3:00am and we sat waiting on the poly bus for about an hour before it left (with only us), time before that we only waited about 15 minutes before bus left airport.

We are taking the same flight.....Calgary-Houston-Orlando. My worry is the Houston airport as i've been told its crazy........

Houston is large but I wouldn't call it crazy. Check to see if you have a terminal change, other than that, I found many more food and retail choices then you would find at yyc.

I totally understand, I used to be same way. I've been doing a lot of travel with work, and now I'm just so jaded, nothing tends to phase me. As you are coming into the airport I would ask the attendants to map out the way for you and give you the approximate time it will take you get to the gate. I've done this many times on tight connections. Some are reluctant, but if you politely push I've never had any outright tell me they wouldn't.

I'm sure everything will go well, and you'll have a great tripl! We missed our connection in Toronto last time - totally AC fault, long story (another post) but with Toronto connections you have to get your bags and clear customs in Toronto which significantly increases your transfer time. We had never gone through TO before and never will again.

I did miss my flight, but hated clearing customs in Montreal and ended up doing that going to Boston last summer. I just wanted a flight out of Canada and then a transfer. Hoping we have time to grab the kids something to eat, but it will be a test thats for sure as we have just over an hour. Thought we would find our new gate for our next flight and hope to heck there is food somewhere close for them to eat or take on the connecting flight with us.....

CALGARY DISHEADs ~ how did you find Denver airport?? We are taking our first ever trip late December as well as our first ever flight and terrified by the whole thing! I'm okay with the flying but everything else like what happens after I leave Saskatoon? When I get off the plane in Denver do I find my luggage somewhere, put my ME tags on it and drop it somewhere else? Where and when do I go through customs? Security? Do I go through security then find somewhere to eat with my kids close to the gate where I leave to Orlando? It appears that we have 2 hours from when we land in Denver until we leave for Orlando. See, so many questions!!

If you are leaving Canada through any of the major airports, you will clear customs at the Canadian airport (ie, yyc, yyz, yvr, etc.) so you would be best putting on your me tags before leaving for the airport. There are plenty of food/retail options without leaving security.

canadianjovigirl, here is a link to a map of Bush International. Of all the airports I have been to, I found the staff here to be the most helpful - hopefully you will find the same.

Just like the poster above said - don't worry - as per our experience (and many, many, others if all goes as it should) which it should - you put on your ME tags in Saskatoon and your baggage will arive at MCO hassle free.Clear sailing.

I personally don't ever want to worry about food so my carry-on always has enough airline approved food to last to last for a week - well not a week but enough hours not to stress me ie: granola bars, crackers, fruit leathers, cookies etc that my kids can gnaw from hours without stressing me - I never build in food stops to my itinerary as you never know how much time you may have/have not.

This is the flight we are taking next month. Do we still have to put on the ME tags if we do not want ME to deliver our luggage? We just want to take it with us when we get on and off the bus:goodvibes

drag n' fly, if you don't want ME to take the bags then do not put the tags on them. However, I do not know why you would want to collect them. The time spent waiting for your bags could have you already on the way to the resort (if your timing is good). The airlines are much more likely to have lost your bag vs. ME. Pack the items you need immediately in a carry on and let ME deliver the bags to your door.

For this trip it works better for us to take our suitcase with us.

hopeis, I assume that you are taking the United flight from Saskatoon to Denver? If you are, Saskatoon isn't one of the major Canadian airports that you can pre-clear U.S. customs. So when you get to Denver you will have to clear U.S. customs there. I've flown into Minneapolis before from Regina and cleared customs there and it is a pretty straightforward process. I would hope for you that Denver would be pretty similar. As for the yellow DME tags, I would put them on in Saskatoon and then you won't have to worry about them again, although you will see your luggage again in Denver when you clear customs.
