I am new at this but have a question. I am bring my MOM down for my B'day in Dec and am going to fly her into MCO. Can she use ME to get to AK? It is way cheaper to fly into MCO instead of where we live. Could I use ME to go pick her up? So she doesn't get lost?

Do you mean take ME to the AK park? If so, then the answer is no. ME does not drop people off at the parks. If you meant the AK lodge, then yes if she is actually staying at that resort & is included on the resort reservation number.

They don't allow people to take ME to the airport unless they are actually taking a flight and again only if they are staying at a WDW resort. There are many people that will assist your mother & especially the people at ME. They are very helpful in directing people to the correct bus.

According to what DVC MS has told me, everyone on the reservation for the room has to use ME. So, if you want your mom to use ME to go to AK (the Resort) after arriving at MCO from a flight, you and whomever else is in the room (if this is the case) will also have to arrive on the flight and use ME. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but when we made our ressie, we had some who want to fly and I want to drive. Because we are all in a THV in the SAME room on the SAME ressie, ME can't be used unless we all use it. So those flying in will have to be picked up or taxi over to SSR. Hope this helps, not sure if that's what you were asking.

The CM was misinformed. Not everyone on the same reservation needs to use DME. Many times, I have taken the train, and DH has flown--and he used DME. Also, he has even used DME days after the reservation had started (I had been checked in at the resort way before his arrival.)

OP--if your mom is listed on a Disney reservation, she can use DME. :)

MdmMim is correct. Any number of people on the reservation can use ME. It does not have to be everyone. On our January trip we had 5 of the 8 people in our 2BR use ME and it was no problem.

OP - as others have said, if your mom is on your reservation then she can use ME, but she will need to take it from the airport to the resort you're staying at. She won't be able to take it to the AK.

You won't be able to use it to go get her, as only Disney resort guests with airline reservations are eligible to use the service. Your mom shouldn't have too much trouble using the service on her own. There are representatives throughout the airport who will be happy to point her in the right directions. (They wear big Mickey hands so they are hard to miss!) She will just need to have her voucher to get on the bus so make sure you arrange for the ME service for her well in advance. When she gets her packet there will be luggage tags included. She'll put these on her checked pieces and then won't have to pick them up when she lands. They will be taken to the resort for her and delivered to your room.

Are you staying in a Disney Resort at all?

WOW! You're are totally correct! I just called MS and confirmed what you all are stating here. This bothers me because when we booked our GV in May 08, 6 people wanted to fly from the same airport to MCO and go straight to SSR using ME but my DH and I wanted to drive in to SSR instead and I was told by several MS reps that we all had to use ME or we couldn't use it. SOOOOOO, my whole family ended up driving because of my fear of flying. Anyway, when I booked the THV this year, I asked the same question because everyone is begging me to fly, and I was told the same story by yet another MS rep. So when I read this info here, I had to call to confirm and I talked to a man at MS who said you CAN use ME from separate airports even, and not everyone on the ressie has to be flying, just has to be from the airport to the resort but, geez, I can't believe that I would have been given the wrong info that many times AND not confirmed it here on the DIS, :lmao: !

If you have some of your party flying in on a differant day can they use ME or someone even coming the same day but maybe 5 hrs later.

Yes, they can use DME--as long as they are on the room reservation. I often arrive days before DH--when he arrives at MCO, he hops the DME bus and is on his way.
