Well I spoke to my guide about BWV and they did have it available for what we are looking for. Now with Magical beginnings, the price is 74.00, so do I just sign on or keep looking for a resale. It seems to me that all BWV resales, by the time you add closing costs, are at least 72.00 pp. Am I just not looking in the right place or is this a no brainer. I don't have much time to decide. Hey it may even be gone.

Thank you for your replies, and also your patience for this newbie;)

My opinion,

Just call and get the points from Disney while they are available.

You are right. They may be gone by the time you call.

Sometimes it's just easier to go through Disney. We just didn't want to deal with the hassle of waiting on ROFR and trying to find the exact right resale. We received exactly what we wanted through Disney and did add ons that were quick and painless.

The sooner you call the sooner you can start planning your first trip home. :D

It does seem that resale and direct from Disney are the same price right now, when using Magical Beginnings. One difference though, on a resale you will hopefully have current year points to use, maybe even a few banked points in the bargain. That means you can take a trip your first year. If you use MB through DVC, you will be waiting until next year, or borrowing your points. Nothing neccessarily wrong with that! (I do it all the time). I always consider price per points over the life of the contract when deciding on a purchase, and a resale will give you more points usually. Except for BCV, which has really only been available through DVC. We bought two OKW contracts via resale. Diana

It depends on how many points you want and whether you need financing. If you want a large contract and don't need financing, buy resale. Otherwise DVC is just as good.

I would lean towards a resale IF it has all it's current year points banks AND had some banked (assuming you'd be able to use them). Other than that I'd agree with Dean, for smaller contracts without banked points I'd go direct through Disney, any saving isn't worth the stress and heartache of awaiting ROFR or your purchase not being exactly what you're expecting.

It is a personal thing, but I don't think the MB is that great a deal. If people are prepared to rent points at $10 per point that is only because it shows them a substantial saving on paying "rack rate" for a hotel direct from Disney. If you're planning to go to WDW but unable to use your points you are paying more to Disney than you would by paying the "higher price" and using your points on that visit, JMHO.
