We rented DVC points for a stay next year. Just to simplify things, I went ahead and added 2 grandparents to the reservation when I booked. They have said they want to come, but aren't sure if they will be joining us for the whole time we'll be there. None of us has purchased tickets yet, but when that time comes, would it be easier to just buy everyone's tickets and link them in my MDE account? Or would they be able to buy tickets without an MDE account and then I could link them in my account?

I doubt they will want to create their own MDE account or have to handle making park reservations. I am the main planner on this anyway and it seems like it's easier just to keep everything on one MDE account.

And as long as they're still a thing, I do plan on purchasing Magic Bands, at least for the 3 immediate family members. If the grandparents don't want them, how would they be able to access the room without an MDE account and how would their actual park tickets work? It seems like it'd be easier just to get them bands as well unless there is some other option.

Thanks for any help!

I would make them MDE accounts. I would wait to buy their tickets until they know for sure that they are traveling with you.

When you add the tickets you then assign them to an owner.

You can get a key card at check in for the grandparents also. If you buy tickets direct from Disney or UT you can request hard tickets and not e tickets.

I would add them to your MDE account as F&F. They can buy their tickets separately and give you the numbers to link to them in MDE. If they don’t have MBs they can get a key card for the hotel and a ticket card for the parks (actually, I think the front desk at the hotel can give them one plastic card that will do both).
