MDE delivering late at night?? 2 separate reservations.

I have a kind of confusing question.

We were set to stay at POR from April 23-29, but then decided to arrive a day early. Since we couldn't add a day to the package we already had, the Castmember I talked to suggested making a separate reservation for just one night.

So now, we have a reservation for POR (standard room) from April 22-23, then another reservation and POR (garden view room) from April 23-29.

The day we arrive, our flight gets in at 7:25pm. I assume MDE will still deliver our luggage and that isn't too late? However, I realize luggage might not be delivered until after 10 (when we will hopefully be sleeping). Is there a way to have our luggage held once it arrives? Especially since the next day, we will be switching rooms anyway?

Ideally we would bring a carry on with what we need that first night and the next day, bell services would have our luggage and we could either pick up after parks that evening, or they could deliver to our new room once it is available. However, I worry that would be confusing to bell services, since we have 2 different reservations...? I wouldn't want them to worry that we aren't picking up our luggage all day...

Has anyone experienced this sort of situation? If so....how did it all work out for you?

We booked a room, then added a day at the beginning under a new res# and the, got stuck in Raleigh. We called and cancelled the add on night. We confused the living daylights out of ME.

We received calls from the airline about abandoned bag (two out of five). We ended up getting those on day 1 - very late. Our other bags showed up the next day.

Doing the same thing again, I would probably just grab my bags from baggage claim next time I have such a confusing reservation. Especially if I were coming in late in the evening.

This is not to knock ME. 20 or so trips with nary a hiccup is a good record. We just made it too confusing.

Yikes! Hopefully it will be less confusing for them if we actually make t to our first reservation (which we should!)...

We did consider getting the bags ourselves, but it honestly just seems like such a hassle...dragging the bags around, the. Both of my girls like to hold our hands when we are in places like airports. Just seems like we don't have enough arms!

Your best bet to avoid luggage being dropped off is to collect it yourself. Since you will be arriving before the 10PM cut off, they should still attempt to deliver it. The few times I've been in the room when luggage was delivered, the person doing the delivery didn't appear to be a resort bell service CM, I think it's a different set of employees who do the luggage transfer. I think the luggage process is pretty self sufficient in that tags get seen, luggage grabbed, luggage sorted, luggage delivered, without any real need or time for intervention for luggage to be re-routed to someplace different than the tags indicate. If you get it yourself you can give it to bell services yourself when you arrive, and ask them to hold it til the following day if you don't want to drag it all over the place, you having two reservations at the same place is no different to them than if you were transferring the next day. Every time I have checked luggage with bell services, either to simply hold to be collected later or for transfer for a split stay, they simply ask the name. They don't care what room you are in, when you checked in, checked out etc. They take it, and hold it until you (or someone with your party) claims the luggage with that name/claim tags.
