MDE/best way to use app for teens? Own accounts?

Hello!

We will be travelling to Disney World with a big family group including four teens (18, 16, 16, 13). The oldest is an adult so he has set up his own account on MDE and linked to ours. For the younger teens, we are trying to figure out whether they should set up their own MDE accounts on their phones or if we should just log in under a parent's account on the app on the teens phones. We anticipate that there will be times throughout the week when the teens are off on their own (in a group but without parents) in the parks and/or at the resort.

We will have the dining plan and buying lightning lanes and want them to be able to use the app to modify their own lightning lanes if they go off on their own and use the dining plan credits also. We are ok if they can use the app to make charges to the card on file with the adult account (might actually be preferable, so that they don't have to carry cash).

What are the restrictions on the MDE account for minors? What have you found works best - have them set up their own account or just log in on an adult account on their device?

Thanks for any tips!!

My now 15 yo teen downloaded MDE onto her phone and signed into my account. No problems at all making/changing/updating selections.

She’s used her MB for purchases (meals, dining credits and souvenirs) since she was 10.

That's great, thanks! So she doesn't have her own account? That seems easiest. I was just concerned if the child accounts were restricted in some ways from using all of the features.

No, she does not have her own account, she signs into my account. Before she turned 10 she was not allowed to purchase anything (even though I gave her access at the resort and she knew the pin but, once she turned 10 she was all set.

Unless your children want to use some of the special MB+ features in Batuu, there really is no reason that I’m aware of for them to need their own account.
