I heard on the news today that Maryland will now give anybody who wants it the H1N1 vaccine. They have plenty for all.

Hopefully, that extends to other areas of the country. I know how much C.Ann has been wanting to get one, but sadly she has not been able to. This just might be good news for her. Here's hoping!

My son in Middle School still has not gotten this. I'm patiently waiting. I'll believe it when I start seeing all the schools receive it.

Our middle school and high school are scheduled to get it on Friday. So far, the elementary students and high risk adults are out of luck.

Have you tried looking at the CVS and Walgreens websites. They tell you what stores have it and you can just walkin to get it.

Over 1000 kids were vacc'd last weekend at two clinics with another large, local school scheduled for this weekend. Our local county health page says:

"Vaccine supply has improved significantly. The target groups remain:

  • Pregnant women
  • Children ages 6 mos. to 24 years
  • Adults ages 25 – 64 with chronic health conditions
  • Healthcare workers
  • Caregivers of children under 6 mos. of age
If you or a loved one falls into one of these categories, please call your doctor’s office to get the vaccine".

Lucky for those I've known who have wanted it, many doc's in this area have it and are offering it even for those not in the target group. So here's hoping all that want or need it, are able to get it soon. With so many of the kids in the area being vaccinated already, that should slow it down some.

Glad to see some states are able to lift all restrictions.

I was glad to hear that MD lifted the restrictions. That indicates that the supply is going up, 73 million are now available country wide, and that other states should be able to do it soon too.

I'm sure there are a lot of people here that have been waiting patiently. Good news all around!

Just saw in the local paper that they will be vac. at the middle school next week. :thumbsup2

You are absolutely correct that a lot of people have been waiting. I guess C.Ann came quickly to mind as she has certainly been the most vocal on every thread pertaining to the H1N1 vaccine. I am glad that it looks as if soon everyone who wishes to get the vaccine will be able to do so.

This is identical to my counties restrictions. Same at my Dr's. And no CVS nor Walgreens has it here. We were among the first counties in FL to get it too!

This is the target group, but I guess we must have hit that pretty much around here, because it doesn't appear to be restricted just to that group any longer. More and more people that I talk to, have been able to get it without being in the target group. Doesn't hurt to ask your doc. If he has finished his target group within his practice, he may be able to vaccinate others. I can't imagine that they would send the vaccine back, once they vacc'd their target group.

Oh, I called both places this morning. It is still only for this priority group.

My older two got it at school so my DH was taking my little one to a clinic on Saturday. When he got there, they said they were lifting the restrictions and anyone could get it. He went ahead and got the mist version.

The Indianapolis paper said drugstores would be getting it next week.

DH and I have had ours, but certainly good to hear for all those in need. :thumbsup2

C.Ann, our door is always open and we have plenty of room in our home, if you're willing to make the trip :goodvibes! I'm serious!

of either kind have been available other than to school kids..and the few clinics that have advertised having them, have said only their own patients or pregnant women or small children could avail themselves of it..my husband is in the high priority group due to his heart disease..and he works as a caregiver to high risk mentally and physically challenged adults in a group home..I have been calling his Dr every other day..they were promised the vaccines by Nov 1..and still haven't gotten either one..so hopefully this will mean that a supply of both the regular flu vaccine and the swine flu one will be available very soon here!

That's horrible that he is in the high risk and your doc can't get it. It must be hard on you to hear that they are opening it up and still no luck for you guys. Sorry :(

Sorry - I didn't respond to this sooner.. I lost the thread and it took me awhile to find it again.. You are so sweet to make such a generous offer.. But then again, you're always so kind and caring - one of the nicest people here..:goodvibes

Anyhow, I finally got my shot this morning!!!! :yay: I called again yesterday and much to my surprise learned the receptionist evidently doesn't know how to subtract 1949 from 2009.. She had me listed as 70 - not 60!!
Gee - I'm aging fast enough without her adding on ten years!
LOL..:rotfl:

Anyhow - we're all set now - everyone has received the vaccination - and no bad reactions..:thumbsup2

Part of DGD's school district has set up a clinic for the 15th (their 4th attempt with the health dept. from one of the two counties that covers all the schools actually delivering on the vaccine this time) per the info that she brought home today.. However, it's limited to students in those 2 schools only as they're still saying the supply is limited.. Younger and older siblings will have to wait or find it elsewhere.. :( The remainder of the kids in the remaining schools in the other county are still waiting as well.. I'm so glad that DGD was able to get pushed up on the priority list and get it at her pediatricians.. That's a huge relief!!

The Governor made a "big" announcement that all "restrictions" have been lifted -but the actual availability of the vaccine remains spotty at best... If it wasn't so sad, I would have laughed at this "grand" announcement..:( People in NY (locally) are still posting today that they're having problems trying to get the vaccine, so the search continues..

Someone on another thread told me that "full" immunity comes in 2 weeks - which means I'll be fully protected on Christmas Day.. Great gift, but I hope I at least get a few used books too.. LOL..:rotfl::rotfl:

Again - thanks so much for your offer and your kindness.. Your family is very lucky to have you in their lives..:lovestruc

Hopefully your DH is well now too? No further problems? I will keep him - and your entire family - in my thoughts and prayers..

:santa::santa::santa::santa:

Yeah, The Gov got some press but no shots to be had around here.

Don't I know.. Your county is one of the counties I'm referring to - and it covers a HUGE area!! :sad2:

"Big announcement" my foot.. When I think of all the kids who are still waiting, I could scream..:headache:
