Going on an extended trip for 10th Anniversary  this December...We have been pleased before with towncar service and am beginning to check rates for our "resort - Wonder Cruise - 2nd Resort" trip including transfers from/to MCO as well. I am considering looking into two separate reservations (MCO to POR / SOG to MCO and POR to DCL / DCL to SOG) instead of ONE reservation for all our transportation needs. I am thinking tow reservations may be more economical? :confused3 I have only gotten one quote so far for everything from same car service and it was for almost $600, excluding tip!

Any suggestions or recommendations from anyone? (We are a family of 5, including 3 kids under 8 yo, two needing booster seats. Therefore, we are considering van for MCO routes and splurging for limo for DCL route.)

TIA for any ideas... :)

(...Oooops! Posted under DH's login... :confused3 :rotfl: )

If you prefer to save instead of splurge, look into renting a vehicle for one day each way and driving yourself to and from the port. I know Budget has an office near Port Canaveral, and I'd think the other major companies do as well. And frankly, even for five people, a taxi would be more cost-effective to get around WDW - especially if your only need is on moving day.

I'm sort of having the same diliemna myself. I'm planning a first time ever cruise for Aug '07. But since we'll be staying at BWV on points for the beginning of the trip we won't need DCL transfers to start, and don't want to sit around waiting for them when we leave BWV to get to PC. So, we're planning on doing DME from MCO to BWV, then a towncar from BWV to PC, and then DCL transport from PC to MCO. Now, I have to find out if this is doable.

When we did the 3 night cruise we rented a car at MCO and drove to the Radisson in right by Port Canaveral and spent the night there. For a small fee (can't remember what it was) we were able to leave our car there for the length of the cruise. The hotel had a shuttle to and from the cruise line.

Another suggestion would be to rent from Avis b/c they have a location at the same hotel that we stayed at.

That's good to know...thanks. We were thinking of maybe spending the night we return to port at a hotel closeby and then head over to Cape Canaveral and the Space Center, and then drive head back to MCO on Monday afternoon.

This is what I have planned so far for a vary similar trip:
MCO/BCV/DCL/SOG/MCO
We will use Magical Express from MCO to BCV. We will rent a car on Disney property the night before our cruise. We will park at the cruise terminal for $10 per day and use the same car to return to SOG. We will keep the car through our SOG stay and use it to return to MCO. I don't know how long your stay at SOG will be, but our total car rental period is 1 week. The lowest rate I found on an Int. car yesterday was $175 for the week. Even with parking fees at the terminal and at SOG ($5 per day), it is still more cost effective than a town car.

Let me know if any of you see flaws in my plan or have better ideas.

Thanks,
Kristi

Fireman 17,

I just looked at your ticker and it looks like we might be on the same cruise and at SOG at the same time. Have you already made your SOG reservations? I was finally able to book yesterday. I have had a tough time getting the online reservation tool to work and getting the days I wanted.

I would offer to share a vehicle, but we are a family of 4 needing 2 booster seats. I'm not sure they make a vehicle big enough for both of our families.

Good luck. Please let us know your final decision as I am still undecided about our method of transportation.

This is mommyrom...I accidentally posted this originally under DH's login name :teeth: We are on the Dec 3-7 Wonder and at SOG from Dec 7-11 (at POR before cruise). In checking for quotes, I found that most of the towncar services offer vans as well as larger vehicles. We were considering the van for our trip because we are two adults and three kids, two needing boosters as well. I believe the vans can take around 10 people. I would like to maybe explore our options a bit further, but am heading out the door to a July 4th parade right now. Also, email would be my preferred method of communication about this anyway from hereon. I will try to get back to you later on today. Thanks and Happy 4th!
