We are thinking about making reservations at the MCO Hyatt for the night before our cruise on the Fantasy. We will be taking the Magic Express to the pier. My questions is, does the Hyatt deliver your luggage to the Magic Express or do we have to take them with us from the hotel? This is our first cruise on DCL. Can't wait!! :cool1:

Luggage gets picked up the night before from your Hyatt hotel room, except for your carry-on. Luggage gets delivered to your stateroom. Very convenient and easy.

I'm confused, does the Hyatt pick up your luggage from the terminal (Southwest) and place it in your room? Then they take it from your room that same night and you don't have access to it until the next day on the ship?

Sorry, I understand now. You are right, it sounds very convenient! Wasn't sure how to edit my first reply.

firstly, it is not the Magical Express, it is Disney transfer, and there is an additional fee paid beforehand. I just want to clarify that for you in case you didn't know, and arrive there under false pretenses.

secondly, I do not believe Hyatt will pick up your luggage from the SW baggage claim, but I do know that if you let them know upon check in that you are travelling on a Disney Cruise with DCL transportation, that you are able to leave your luggage in the room, and they will bring it down to be transported to the ship, so you don't have to.

Hope this is helpful!

It gets picked up by 9AM the morning OF. Not the night before. I've never heard of this, unless it is extremely recent.

Thanks hippy524, we are getting the DCL transfers. I like the idea of having our luggage picked up the morning of the cruise and not the night before. Have you heard of anyone having any trouble with this method and not getting their luggage on to the ship? It sure would be convenient not to drag our luggage to the bus.

Actually they hyatt does offer a service, this is from their site:

Give yourself the gift of convenience. Arrive at Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport (MCO) and have your luggage collected at baggage claim and delivered directly to your luxurious hotel guestroom.

just check-in first before going to baggage claim.

We just stayed at the Hyatt last week.

First DO NOT PUT YOUR DCL LUGGAGE TAGS ON AT HOME!
If you do your bags will go directly to the ship.

When you check in at the Hyatt, let them know you will be going on the Disney Cruise. They will give you a sheet of instructions for luggage transfer and a form to fill out. This explains the process.

If you would like them to retrieve your luggage from SW Baggage claim they will for a fee. Just give your luggage tickets to the Bell Captain and the will deliver them to your room.

We have use both of these services multiple times.
Never had a problem with our luggage.

Have a great cruise!

Just remember to leave a tip for the Hyatt luggage handlers--. We just put the tip in an marked envelope and left it on top the luggage when we left the room that morning.

Hyatt does the luggage thing a LOT and for us it went very smoothly!!

Just a word of caution on the Hyatt Luggage service to DCL. If you are wanting to catch an early bus to the port. Check with the Hotel before going down to bus boarding area and make sure you are on the list for luggage pickup.

In late 2012, We had a couple of rooms booked. We had an early breakfast at the hotel, went back to the rooms briefly before going down to check in for the bus. One room had already been picked but the other had not. We just figured they would catch it on the next pass, but I was a little nervous, so after we checked in for the first bus, I went back up to the room and checked, still no pickup. Stopped at front desk and was told the room was not on the list for pickup. They were able to radio someone to pick up the luggage, and I called the hotel once we got to the port to double check. But I will always stop at the desk on the way out of the hotel to check it now.

Otherwise it is a very convenient service when using Disney Transfers. Also note that for special cruises, like DVC member cruises, the hotel may not offer the service, this has happened to us a couple of times, but it is still easy to just take the luggage to the bus boarding area and give it to the cruise line there.

this is PERFECT! Thanks for the letter from the Hyatt...that's great information that has put my mind at ease in preparation for my 9/6 Fantasy sailing!

Staying at Hyatt MCO in August.
thanks for the info.. very helpful!!!

About a year ago the fee was $10 + tip to have the Hyatt pick up your luggage at airport baggage and deliver it to your Hyatt room. Nice if you are traveling with young children or don't want to wait for your bags.

You all are so awesome. Thanks for all the information about MCO and the disney transfers. From reading all the posts, quite a few people were helped by all your answers. As I said before, this is our first Disney Cruise and we are beyond excited. Thanks again!!

I think I've stayed at the MCO Hyatt four times now and have always used the service to transport the luggage and no issues at all. As others have mentioned make sure you advise the representative at Hyatt when you check in and they will provide the piece of paper that was previously attached. You will complete the form and then hand this form to the DCL agent when you check in to board the bus to the port. This is like a "an extra check" to let DCL know about your luggage too.

It's a great service and makes it so much easier!

Does it make a difference if you book through DCl or Hyatt on your PAT?
Or if you catch the early bus are you guaranteed a early PAT?

I have never heard of a problem that wasn't caught.

Just make sure you have that letter, which means they know you're on the list, and you should be good.

There have been recent reports of people who have the Hyatt booked NOT needing to choose PATs. I think those people have booked it through DCL. For me, I figure I would plan on doing online checkin early, to make sure I get an early PAT so I can be sure to get the early bus. And if I'm doing checkin and it doesn't have me do a PAT, then I'd figure it somehow knew, and I'd be fine.

DCL seems to change procedures every so often, so I prefer to be prepared to make sure I get what I want, rather than rely on what might possibly be procedures-that-just-got-changed. :)
