About how long is the usual wait time for MCO baggage claim? Flying in during a busy time (day before Easter) and Jetblue.

Debating if I should just carry on. Except it’s me and the kids and I’m sure they won’t be thrilled if I make them carry on, but would love to make it to the parks that night for dinner (and we land at 3).

Thanks!

Generally speaking have never had any major issues with baggage claim at MCO, baggage claim areas are spacious and luggage comes out quickly on conveyer belts.. It seems (from my experiences at MCO) that there are really only delays when there is bad weather (thunderstorms, etc.) which causes ground operations to temporarily shut down until the storm passes and it's safe for ramp workers to go back outside, and even when this has happened the delay was not horrible..

Ok. So pretty safe to assume that by the time we get to the carrousel we wouldn’t wait long? Trying to figure out how much time to allow from wheels down to at resort. Planning to get a ride share.

You can figure 60-90 minutes BUT flight delays and afternoon thunderstorms (halting luggage handling) can add time. I wouldn't book anything which has a cancellation fee the day you arrive. If you must allow at least 3 hours. More likely to be an issue if you have a later flight. First flights of the day are less likely to have delays and afternoon thunderstorm issues.

What do you consider "long"? I've had times at the carrousel where it was 10 minute wait and I've had other times where it's an hour. As mentioned, Thunderstorms can delay things, and we even waited one time because there was a shift change of the baggage handlers. To say nothing about if your luggage doesn't make it, you have to wait until everything unloaded (to make sure your bags aren't the last ones), then go through the lost luggage procedure for your airline.

Sure, "normally" you should be at your resort 60-90 minutes after you step off the plane. BUT, what if the plane is late? What if there's a delay with bags? What if there's an accident on the roads?
