MB Options when flying separately

How far in advance are Magic Bands shipped for a resort stay? I'm visiting with a friend and we live in different cities. She's also going to arrive in Orlando hours after I am because of time zone differences. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to send her magic band to her before we leave for Orlando.

I've been told she can use the confirmation number to get on the magical express, and I'm planning on meeting her when her DME gets to our resort, but she wouldn't be able to get into our room right away if I get caught somewhere at the wrong time. Everything would obviously be easier if we each had our own magic bands before getting on the plane, but i worry about it not getting to her in time. Thoughts? Anyone been in a similar situation?

I feel like I would want it sent to me not because she couldn't use a confirmation number but because it is part of the excitement of a Disney trip coming up! It is probably fine either way though.

My sister and I always arrive separately- whichever of us books the trip just mails the other her magic band when it arrives. There's always been plenty of time to get it sent and received prior to departure.

The MagicBands are shipped approximately 3 to 4 weeks before check in date. It would be easy to throw her MB in the mail. You could also have both bands shipped to her if you already have bands from another trip.

Everything would obviously be easier if we each had our own magic bands before getting on the plane, but i worry about it not getting to her in time.

She will receive a confirmation letter from Magical Express that will get her on the bus at the Orlando airport. The resort that she is cheeking into can give her a key card if she doesn't have her band. I think they would even give her a grey band if she doesn't have her customized band.

She should also be able to go to the front desk and get a card to enter the room until you get there. But I think it would be fun to send her MB!

DS and I also fly from different places, even arriving in different days. One time, I asked to have our MBs early so I could give it to him when he was visiting me. They did that, I gave it to him, he forgot to bring it with him to WDW. (The front desk at the resort gave him a gray MB.) Since then I just mail him the DME info and luggage tags.
