MB confusion!

Last summer, I went to WDW with my sister, my brother in law and my niece. They have MBs from that trip as we stayed on property. I was the one "in control" on MDE, and the others didn't even create a MDE account.

They leave tomorrow for WDW, stay off property and would like to link their tickets to their MBs. They now have one MDE account (my brother in law created one) but their MBs are listed under my account, but by their names. Their tickets are now listed under his account.

Is there any way to link their MBs to their tickets before they go? Or would they need to wait until they got there?

Thanks!

And I am assuming that if I deleted their accounts, the MBs couldn't be linked at all, right?

Go you your friends and family list. Next to each name there is an invite button. Click that and add their e-mail address. It will send them an invite and once the accept the bands should transfer automatically.

I just did this for my DH this week. He was under my account, but wanted to start his own. It worked perfectly.

ETA: The page you want is My Family and Friends. Then next to each person it says connect through a Disney account. Click that.

While this will work for the primary MDE account holder, Disney Tech Support will need to get involved to get the existing MagicBands for the managed profiles (sister & niece) moved over to the new MDE account created by the BIL.

This is why I recommend that every distinct family unit has their own MDE account from the beginning.

Thank you! I'll give that a try right now!

Aw shucks. Makes sense. My family kept saying this was their last trip and they were never going back. (Nope, not related to me at all!) Still kind of funny they are going back, if only for one day. It's not a necessity that they link their MBs, just a perk. They figure they have less chance of losing their MBs than their tickets. Thanks for your help.

I forgot about that part. Just call tech support. They can make that work. I had to connect my DD who is on my account with my mom's account so that they could do a trip together earlier this year.

What I would suggest is have your sister and BIL create their accounts and get linked. Then they can create a second version of you niece in their account. When you call tech support they will just make the system recognize both versions of your niece as the same person.

Thanks everyone, they've just decided that it's not worth the hassle. They are only doing one day in MK, so it's not a big deal. They thought the MBs were more convenient than the cards to carry around.

Can't you go into the Magic Bands under your account and unlink them to deactivate them and then they go in under their MDE account they have set up with their tickets and relink the Magic Bands with the numbers inside?

Nope.

You could link the park admission to the profiles that you manage and then they would be able to use their existing MagicBands. If they are purchasing tickets once they arrive, they should be able to get the tickets linked at time of purchase if they have the MagicBands with them.

FWIW, tech support helped me with a similar situation. It was quick and they were so friendly....I did it on a 10 minute break at work! They just need the email addresses of the MDE accounts they are looking at.
