Because you get the same discount just by showing your AP card. So it is not needed.

I didn't realize there was a second card. I just have the one I got when I activated my PAP last November.

When we got our new APs we were given a hard card, and I would hope that continues. That is our proof that we have an AP in case of glitch with the MB or MDE which is not unheard of. With our APs last year there was issues with MDE that took IT a week to figure out, without our cards my DS "technically" didn't have one on his MB.

The AP Magicbands come with the "discount and parking" card that you will need to show if you are not carrying your AP with you. No one was interested in our MagicBand, they wanted the cards and a form of ID at every single transaction and parking toll booth.

I just checked the list of restaurants that offer the discount and pepper market is not on it. That's probably why you were refused a discount.

Well then, that would make sense. However, I was not told that they did not offer the AP discount - I was told that I had to have the AP discount card. I showed her my AP card, but she insisted that I needed the discount card. When we went back to WL I asked about it at the concierge desk and they didn't know what I was talking about. Finally, at Epcot Guest Relations I found someone who was aware of the discount card program. He told me that we would get our discount cards when we received our AP magic bands. We now have our AP magic bands and our AP discount cards so we're all set for our November vacation! I will be sure to take my AP booklet with us so that I can be sure that a restaurant offers the AP discount before I ask for it!

The main benefit of the second gold discount card is it shows you that your pass expires one day earlier than you expected.

My first AP card had an expiration of 8/21/14 written on it by the CM who handed it to me. The new card says 8/20/14. Sigh.

But a reminder: If you buy a new AP online you get sent a voucher that must be activated. You can link the ticket in MDE using the reservation #, and make FP+ in advance, but you will not get a MB order in the system until after your first visit and activation of the voucher.

This was too much to bear for my daughter so we had to buy her a MB after we activated her pass yesterday even though she will get one in 2 months or so.

I'm in the same boat. New AP. First visit in May. But we are getting MBs from our resort stay.

But do you get the discount card etc when you claim your voucher? And can I use my voucher for the free parking when I am going to claim the actual AP?

If the parking lot gate CM won't let you into the parking lot with the voucher (some will, some won't,) you'll be just fine if you take your parking receipt to the Guest Relations or ticket booth where you activate your AP.
The CM there will refund your parking fee that day.
