Thinking about trading in minivan for one of these. Need opinions please. How are they on gas? Thanx

We have a Mazda Premacy (7 seater, European edition) and really like it. We just came back from a 3 week tour across Europe (Denmark, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Bosnia, Hungary, Slovakia) and we have no complaints at all. It doesn´t use much gas at all. We managed to get it down to 7.7 liters per 100 km during the trip (car was fully loaded), so that´s not too bad.

I have a 2001 Tribute and I really love it. Gas mileage is decent on highway, not so great city driving, but that may be due to the fact that I really really need to take her in for a check-up. She is due but I haven't had the $$ to get her serviced.

I tested both the Tribute and the Ford Escape and found the Tribute had a much smoother ride and nicer handling than the Escape, even though they are almost the same. However, if you are concerned about gas mileage, you may want to look into the Escape b/c I think I remember hearing that they were doing a gas/electric hybrid version.

Everyone always says how comfortable the seating is and the split rear folddown seats in the back are really easy to use.
