Hi,

I'm hoping to walk the Camino de Santiago this summer, so I'll be flying in and out of Paris. I could probably do Madrid, but, well, I'm a French teacher and I'd like to spend a few days in Paris once I'm done my pilgrimage. And, well, since I'm in Paris and I'm a HUGE Disney Freak, then I'd like to see DL Paris while I'm there. Makes total sense, right? Totally!

Basically, I'm doing this and I'd have to be extremely budget conscious, so how much time/where to stay kind of thing. Would I need to stay near DLP, would it be easy enough to take the train from Paris... is one day enough?

I was looking for a specific thread for newbies, but I didn't find one yet. I'll be here researching just as much as for the Camino probably. LOL

Thanks

Hi there, Tina!

Sorry I can't help because we're doing our first trip to DLP in the summer! However, the Camino de Santiago is on our list for an upcoming trip so I'd love to hear about your preparation and experience with it!

If you want to go to DLP on a budget, I'd suggest to look at the two latest stops of the RER before DLP.
In Val d'Europe there are many hotels and they are quite near. Many do offer also a free shuttle to the parks. Very convenient.
To save a bit more, then Bussy Saitn George offers a few value options. If you're going to use the hotel room just to sleep, then the Campanile or the Premiere Classe will be sufficient. They are 15 minutes walk from the RER station (which is 10 minutes ride from the park). They are both very spartan, rooms are small (expecially in the Premiere class) but they are as cheap as it can get.

Hi Lynne,

I'm just getting started, but I'm really excited. I'll keep you posted in how things go. :)

Thank you so much! That's great information. I don't mind a small room, after all, I'll just have come from sleeping in a communal room and sharing bathrooms for a month. I'm worried about a 15 minute walk in the dark on my own though. Is it a safe area? I'll likely want to maximize my time in the parks for the day or two that I'm there.

Mmm, that's a good question. Being a single male I'm not usually worried so maybe others might add their comment about this.
I've never felt at danger or that the area is not secure, but it is certainly quite desert at night.

It is easy enough to take the train from Paris, it takes around 40 minutes from the centre of Paris. Hotels would be more expensive there though. I would suggest 2 days in the parks and perhaps staying close to the parks as one thing you would not want to miss would be Disney Dreams (the night time fireworks, music, laser and projection show on the castle). This is on at park closing time, which in the summer months could be 10 or 11pm! We often stay off site in Val d'Europe (the last stop before dlp and 2.5 minutes away from the parks) There is an Ibis and Ibis budget there which are quite cheap and they are located next to the RER line. This area is very safe, after Dreams many families will be returning here on the RER. We stay in the Residhome opposite. We prefer this as the rooms all have a kitchen. This might be useful to you as food in DLP can be quite expesive. There is a supermarket 5 minutes walk away where we stock up on things for our time there.

Thanks... I will wait and see if anyone has anything to add.

Thank you, I'll keep this in mind as I research.

Bussy St George is very safe at night - most places that close to Disney are - Further down the line there are areas I'd avoid but not Torcy, Bussy or Val d'Europe :)
