I just had to make a "pumpkin pie" last night. There was no waiting till Thanksgivings for me. The weather has finally cooled down, here in Louisiana, and it does feel like fall.

Who else has a favorite dish that really makes the holiday season special for them? Is there a certain food or drink, that you know that it isn't Thanksgiving or Channuka or Christmas, without it?

Pumpkin bread - I just put down canned pumpkin on my shopping list for the weekend. As soon as we start wearing heavy coats and Thanksgiving is coming near, I just have to make some.

Yum Yum!!

For the fall it is definitely pumpkin bread, I made this in early October...couldn't wait. For the winter it is apple pie, actually any pie that is served hot. As soon as it is cool, I have to have ice cream....actually whenever I'm not cold I will eat ice cream. If I am cold then it is hot chocolate for me.

My Mom loves pumpkin pie (I do too, but she REALLY likes it!) I just started a new diet, and pie crust isn't on it - but I think I'll figure out how to have the pie filling! mmmm

Pumpkin or sweet potato pie.

And then there's collards and black-eyed peas for New year's dinner.....:D

I made pumpkin bread (with chocolate chips) a couple of weeks ago. And, I’ve had store-bought pumpkin pie recently (never baked one myself). Next, I’ll make gingerbread and serve it warm with a dollop of whipped cream.

Can anyone share their pumpkin bread receipe with me? I have about 4-5 pie pumpkins that I need to cook soon and I don't want to make pie since my mom always buys pie for Thanksgiving. Yes, even when I tell her I'm bringing home-made pie from organic pumpkins .

My mom thinks there's something wrong with me on NY. I don't like collard greens, I rarely eat blackeyed peas. She also makes ham hock or hog jowls or something nasty like that to freak me out.;)

I have to make a homemade chocolate pie for either/both holidays.:) And green bean casserole.:)

Homemade Russian tea!! Made with lemon juice, pineapple juice, cinnamon sticks, orange juice, and tea bags! The season has arrived!!

Shannon, you don't eat bacon?

I love all of that stuff you called nasty :)
