I want to join!
There are always lots of days where we don't spend since I'm a SAHM and my husband works from home. What we're trying to do is cut the budget down! Groceries in particular. We had been spending well over $1000 a month for the three of us. I don't even know how. Anyhow... here's a partial budget. I'll tweak as I go.

Grocery budget -$600 (this is cutting our average spend in half!)

Gas - we don't own a car. If we buy gas the cost gets deducted from our tab, luckily.

Restaurants - $150 We used to spend a lot more but the only alright place to eat in our neighbourhood just lost us as customers - bad for those 'what to eat' nights, great for my budget!

Other - We go wrong here a lot too. Each month I never plan on spending that much but we always seems to drop $400-$600 on something we 'needed'. Last month we blew the budget by buying a wardrobe and getting the driveway redone. Ugh.

Savings - This number I want to grow! We should be saving way more as we are pensionless. With retirement, a toddler and little in an emergency fund we have got to save. Trying for minimum $500.

May Spend:
Grocery - $768
Transport - $53
Restaurants -$191 (mother's day weekend took a big chuck)
Other - $1560 (the ugly 'needed' thing this month wasn't so ugly: Disney flight! Also a new a/c, drill since ours died, home imp. stuff, medical... ugggg way too much)
Save: $500
(and $325 in giftcards the grocery store and a few other shops to get double points. I'm not going to count this as a spend but rather count it as a spend once I start using the cards).

Okay, so I didn't do that well. But I am still happy with the grocery cost since it used to be $1200 a month. Cutting $400 is pretty good. Restaurants is higher than I like but I have to admit I feel like we ate like kings this month. Other is out of control. I'm shocked and embarrassed by it. It is stuff we do need, but come on $1560!! That has got to change. I want savings to be higher.

On to June!
