Any other May travelers debating about booking with another airline? I have read that the new schedule won't be released until February 8. We need tickets for May 12 and May 19. I am concerned that the deals won't be as good now that May is getting clumped into the summer season. I am also concerned that the cheapest rates are going to disappear fast. Right now Airtran has flights at $69 one way. We are thinking about just booking with Airtran rather than going for the SW rate of $49 one way. Anyone else in the same boat?

:confused3

I'm not in the boat yet, but I'm standing dockside. :teeth:

We are waiting for SW's new schedule to be released but probably won't book until the end of March, early April.

I excitedly booked our second trip last year to WDW as soon as the dates opened. Within a month, ticket prices had been cut in half, so I canceled our flight and rebooked at the cheaper rate.

I'm going to wait a while, even after dates have become available.

You may not get SW at $49 ow when they first open up anyway. Sometimes they open at $59 to $69 and then after open for a week or so they'll drop them. We just got back from WDW on 1/20 (our travel dates were 1/13 thru 1/20) I don't think SW opened the dates up until early November and then within a week they had Ding's for those dates. I ended up paying $110 pp rd trp with all taxes. I think one way was $49 and the other was $44.

DonnaL, thank you for the tip. I didn't know this. I just assumed they opened with their lowest rates first and then as those filled up moved up to their increasingly higher rates.

They start with their highest rates, then drop them as time goes on.

Once your dates become available, check SW's site daily. You'll be able to purchase their lowest priced seats without worry of unavailability.

I think $69 each way is great! If Airtran had that for my dates, I would jump on it. Right now Airtran has rates for June 27 and July 7 from Detroit and back from MCO for $87 each way. $980 total for family of 5. Hoping for a little cheaper.

Does Airtran drop prices or do they just get more expensive? I like the times of flights that they offer for our days. Can't decide.....HELP!!! Considering taking Airtran. Don't want to get stuck with bad flight times, or not the days I need. Flight pros. Where are you????

Well, just talked to Southwest today, they told me that the new rates will not be posted by 2-8, What am I to do? could get a delta for 219 RT? any thoughts?

WTH????? When I talked to SW last week they said,"Any day now, keep checking" I don't get this at all. Could you share a little more about your conversation TomKer

I think I will wait till the end of feb... If no dates by then I will be booking with someone else. We don't have air tran out of louisville so any other cheap flight besides SW is out of the question. But I at would at least like to be booked with an air line 2 months ahead of our trip. That way we can give the info. to disney to allow enough time for DME tickets to be delivered, and if there were any mistakes with anything it would give enough time to take care of it.

and they confirmed that seats would open up the 2 week of feb. I spoke to them in late Jan.

Best rate is 217 R/T from EWR to MCO on continental. It has excellent flight times so thinking about whether to book it and just be done with it. I'll probably wait until Thursday to see what southwest has to offer.
