MAY the SUPER GOOFS have a fantastic month!

Welcome Dawn!

(I see you are in one of the NW suburbs - which one? My in-laws live in Libertyville, my sister & her husband are in Naperville, and I have friends scattered across the Chicago area.)

Welcome Dawn!

(I see you are in one of the NW suburbs - which one? My in-laws live in Libertyville, my sister & her husband are in Naperville, and I have friends scattered across the Chicago area.)

I'm in Mt. Prospect; next to Arlington Heights and not that far from Libertyville! I was just looking at the Chicago Trail Series races; there's a 4 mile in Libertyville in Sept that I may try for.

Hi Goofs! Sorry to have been away for so long. Grad class is finished for this semester, so hopefully I will have a little free time for the DIS again. I have been seriously missing it!

Welcome, Dawn! I am aiming to do the Princess 1/2 next March as well! It will be my first 1/2. Good luck!

Good luck in the EE race, Randy!

Maura, good luck with your tri training. The physical therapist who works in my room is training for a tri right now as well. She is doing one in Philidelphia in July. I admire you both...I don't have any kind of swimming endourance...

Suzanne-I am right there with you about life getting in the way of DIS time...what the heck! I hope you get things worked our from your race.

Rich-Wow...you are amazing...way to go with all your miles! And good luck with your upcoming races!

As for me, I got in 36 miles for April. Things are going well for me. I am off tomorrow to celebrate my babies birthday! He is turning 1 tomorrow! He loves riding in his new jogging stroller when the weather is nice enough for him to come on my runs with me.

The next month is going to be pretty crazy for us. We just sold our house and the closing is May 26th. We are going to be buying my grandparent's house from them, but they do not have a closing date for the place they are moving to, so we are kind of in limbo as to when we can move into their place. So the next month is going to be spent packing and then unpacking!

Quick fly by to welcome Mrs D to the Goofs!!!

Updated miles 13344.07 - 36 = 13308.07

The January 1/2 marathon is now at 50% full...time for me to make a decision. My husband says to sign up, it will be warmer this time!

Medal update...after another email sent to the race director since I haven't heard from her in 10 days, she responded to say her husband has been sick and she is having a hard pregnancy but the medals are going in the mail today. Woo hoo!! I will cherish this one forever!!

Welcome Randy and Dawn! :thumbsup2

I'll keep this short, got in 9 miles this week. Had to skip today's run cause I've got some kind of tummy bug.
Ran Monday with my DH. Ran 5 miles with only 3 one minute walking breaks thrown in. Almost close to running a 10K again with no walking. Taking me a while to get back to that point, but it's getting close! Kinda bummed I missed today's run. Oh, well!

Have an awesome weekend and Mother's Day my fellow Goofs! :grouphug:

Welcome to Randy and Dawn, and happy Mother's Day to all the Goofy moms! I'm so excited about my Mother's Day gift. It's going to be "jewelry" -- the race bling for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon! DH told me today that he will register me for the race as my present. I can't think of anything I would have liked more! (Well, except maybe a Goofy registration...)

Shan, I hope you feel better soon. I am :worship: in awe of your goal to run a 10K without walk breaks. I just got back to 2.25 miles without a walk break, and I'm really missing my intervals. I think I might go back to them once I complete Couch to 5K next weekend. Speaking of which, I will be at CBR next weekend and plan to do a virtual 5K there. Any advice? I've never stayed there before, but it looks like I can do a few laps around the lake to bang out the 3.1 miles.

Suzanne, you'll have to post a photo of that long-awaited medal when you get it. I hope it's beautiful!

If the rain holds off for tonight I'll be running a 5K tonight at the local Highschool. Should be a good run to do before starting vacation on Sunday!

The best part is that I'll get to do the 1/2 mile fun run with my son before the 5K though.

Suzanne
Of course you are going to do the disney half again! Who else will I bundle up against next to the porta potties when it is sub zero and SNOWING in Florida!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms (and any single Dads also), hope you are having a great day!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all....

Randy My belated welcome to the group. Hope you make progress in getting to where you want to be. And don't forget to check out the tri thread. I should be doing at least one this year--although I haven't signed up for anything yet.

Dawn Welcome to you, too! Good luck on your upcoming races. And sounds like you're off to a great start! I haven't read anythng about the W&D relay. How far will you run?

AshleighGood luck with all the house moving stuff. The thought of having to do that is enough to make me want to stay in my house another 22 years! And happy birthday to DS. First birthdays are fun--if only to watch a one year old try to eat cake. Of course, they could care less about presents--the adults seem to care more!

Suzanne After all this, you HAVE to take a picture of the medal to show us!

ShanYeah! You are making great progress. I know the past while has been frustrating for you running-wise, but here's hoping that's all behind you. (Hearing Timon and Puumba in my head!)

Kim Congrats on the W&D gift! When I look at my training plan IF I do the fall marathon, it shows that I need to run 13 miles on that very weekend. Hmmmm......

Randy Hope your races went well.

So today was just like any other Sunday--well, except for the dead car battery. Grocery shopping, 8 mile run. Watched a little Giro d"italia and golf and baseball. Cooked dinner. So what is this Mother's Day thing?!

Maura

Happy Mother's Day to the Goofiest moms on the web!

Randy - Welcome to the Goofs. Have a great time at the EE. It sounds like such a unique experience.

Dawn - Welcome! I enjoyed your story. You are off to a great start. Have fun with your training.

Ashleigh - You should log miles for packing and unpacking as that is tough work! It's more back-breaking than anything I do in the gym. Best of luck with your move.

Suzanne - Great job being persistent with your medal. Hopefully this teaches them to be more organized next time. You should post a pic when you get it.

Kim - Congratulations on your present! Have a great time Wining and Dining your way to another medal.

AFM, two days after I emailed the timing company for my recent half, they updated the results page and now I'm on it. The mats at the turnaround didn't register me as crossing for whatever reason. My official time was 2:04:07 which was a little more than a minute faster than my previous PR. One of my goals this year is to break the 2-hour mark. I have two more opportunities this year so I'll see if I can do it.

I started back on my marathon training program two days after my half and started getting some scary leg pains in IT band area so I have been going really easy since. I backed off running and have only done the elliptical on light resistance to get the heart rate up and burn some calories. I'm going on an easy jog tomorrow and can hopefully get back on schedule shortly.

Just a quick post to say I am still alive. Yes, I survived the heat last week at WDW. I will try to get back a little later to post my April miles.

Happy belated Mother's Day, SuperGoof Moms and Mr. Moms.

 Hiya Randy. Good luck on the Everest Challenge.
:wave2: Nice to see you here Mrs. D!!!

Suzanne, congrats on getting the medal situation straightened out. Even though you shouldn't have had to go through the trouble. Can't wait to see a pic.

Ashleigh, moving is certainly exercise. Log those minutes!

Kim, what a wonderful and thoughtful present from your DH. Sounds like he is a keeper.

Maura, to prevent that sort of Mother's Day from happening, my family does carry out. Not as tasty or healthy food, but less work for the moms. (Since most of the guys in my family can't boil water.)

Steve, congrats on the new PR. You are quite close to your goal. Hope the IT band doesn't hinder your achieving it.

I've been MIA for a while again. Spent the last week of April in the ICU and the first week of May laid up on bed rest in the general ward of the hospital. The doctors think they have things straightened out now and I should be out of the clear in a couple months with the help of the meds they prescribed. My legs seem to have forgotten how to walk over the past few weeks, so I am far less mobile than I would like. But I'm okay with starting over. Far better than not starting at all.

I did have to cancel my trip to WDW last week. And forgo my spot in the Orlando Muddy Buddy. That was the worst part, at least to me.

Hope the week finds all the Goofs in good weather, spirits and health.:grouphug:

Todd-hope you are feeling better soon, sounds like some scary stuff that you've been through.

Hope everyone else is healthy (or getting there) and getting in the miles that you hope for.

Medal update...I got my medal in the mail yesterday. Unfortunately its just a generic medal with a shoe with wings and stop watch with a yellow lanyard. On the back, there is a sticker that says Medals sponsored by PE Run for the Cure. Maybe I was having heat exhaustion after the race but I thought the lanyards were pink for breast cancer. I looked up the medals and they are just the generic $1.75 ones that you can buy from any online dealer. Oh well, I will proudly display it on my curtain rod and remember to never do this race again!!

I ran the Big Lakes Half on Saturday, had a course PR and an all time PB! I was 5:54 (minutes) faster than my fastest so far, if I can keep it up, I might actually have a decent time in a few years! (Hey, I'm slow, I know, but it's all good...gotta start somewhere, and it gives me something to work towards!) It was about 48 degrees and rained the ENTIRE time! Not much for spectators, only entertainment was a guy playing a washboard and singing (he was a hoot!) but the volunteers sucked it up nicely and were there for me!

Hope everyone is doing great!

Hi everyone! Just stopping by for a quick update.

Was in Florida from 04/29-05/09. Flew into MCO and drove up to Tallahassee to visit DH's grandmother for a couple of days, then drove back to Disney. What a hot week! I managed to get 2 runs in, both 5k. The further we got into the vacation, the less I wanted to get up early to run. The second run made me cranky for our day at Epcot, so that was the end of my morning runs! Oh well, I figure that 2 runs were better than none. I did wear a pedometer and kept track of my miles through the days though.

I'm getting back into the swing of things this week (and getting rid of the vacation bloat) and then starting my official half marathon training on Sunday. I'm really looking forward to it. I've actually followed the training program before, just for fun, so it will be even more exciting to have a real goal at the end!

I'm still relatively new to the goofs, so I wasn't aware of posting monthly miles (sorry!). I'll total those up and post soon, if it's not too late.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

The fact that you ran at all is amazing. I always just manage to have the intention to run, but no actual running happens! We start our training for the DL 1/2 this weekend too. We'll be doing it together! :goodvibes

Hey Goofs!

Just a quick checking in. I pulled a muscle in a rather sensitive spot running the marathon (and which was probably not helped with mowing the overgrown jungle that I laughingly call my lawn), so my miles have been pretty low the last week or so. I hope to be recovered in time for the CRUD 8-hour trail run, which is in a week and a half.

Angie - good job on the PR! That was a pretty substantial improvement too!

Suzanne - sorry to hear about the medal fiasco.

Todd - sounds like you have been through a lot lately. Just take it easy getting back into things - I think everyone wants all the Goofs to be hale and hearty!

Steve Congrats on your PR. And I hope you hit your goal of sub-2 this year. I was happy to do the same! Hope your IT band (if that's what it was) has quieted down.

Jeanette Right now I would give a pretty penny for some of that FL heat! (Suzanne--can you send some our way?) We had a great April and now May here is cold and rainy. Hope WDW was fun. I'm trying to convinve my daughter to go at the end of May, but she is so crazed at school that she won't even discuss.

Todd So sorry to hear about your health--sounds a little scary. I hope you recover quickly and get your walking.running legs back soon. This weather hasn't actually been conducive to strolls outside.(Gee, I just heard thunder) It makes me just want to stay inside under a warm blanket!

Suzanne Oh well, ANY medal is better than no medal!

Angie WooHoo on your PR! You do so many races and are getting better all the time. And just as importantly, always seem to enjoy the races. Congrats!

froggygrrrl I never seem to keep up any training plan while at WDW. I just chock up the time to "cross training"! So good for you for getting in 2 runs. The mileage thing is just a little motivation game, a great idea by Rich. We all provided a distance of how far it is from our homes to our favorite place in WDW. Then we added it all up. And now we're chipping away at the mileage until we all "arrive" at WDW.

Lauren I started my 1/2 training already--for some reason this plan runs for 18 weeks. So looks like several of us will be DL-bound. We can plan a mini-Goofs meet when we get closer.

Rich Ouch! Hope it heals quickly--and yet, the streak lives! And what does CRUD stand for?

As for me...more of the same. Tomorrow is my DS 18th birthday. No ideas for present, the shirt I ordered for him from USC is backordered and won't be here, and I haven't gotten him a card or a cake yet. (We currently share one car, which he usually has all day, so I don't get out much!) Oh well, we'll figure something out. He doesn't want a birthday party, graduation party or heaven forbid he should contemplate the prom--I guess I'm getting off cheap!
