May the Fork Be With You - Complete. Symphony in the Sky Galactic Dessert Party

I absolutely loved your reviews, thanks so much for sharing them with us :goodvibes

As someone with serious back problems I couldn't actually stand that long, even before any alcohol, so seats are definitely needed :rotfl2:

Wow they really go all out for symphony. But I didn't see is there anywhere to sit down :rotfl2:. I'm on the fence about trying it next month. I'm loath the fireworks crowds and though this may be a good option, but of course the price is keeping me away thus far. Though boozy drinks are tempting me......

Thanks for sharing all your reviews! I thoroughly enjoyed eating with you.

Afternoon Tea at the Grand used to be one of my WDW favorites. It was once a "must-do every trip" for my daughter and me, but I haven't been since 2013. They have made so many changes over the years that I didn't like and learning from your review that it is now $50 (twice the price that it was when I first went about 10 years ago), I am not really in any hurry to return. That being said, I still feel like it's a special experience that is worth doing at least once. So I'm glad you treated yourself and enjoyed your tea! :thumbsup2

As for the Garden Grill breakfast, your review has definitely sold me on that. I haven't been to GG in more than 10 years, but I'm now excited about returning there to try their breakfast.

And I'm so glad I read your review about the Galactic Dessert Party. This was something I was interested in doing on my next trip to the World but I had no idea that it was a "standing tables only" event. So I might have to rethink that one. ;)

So anyway, thanks for taking the time to do this dining report. You did a great job, Dawn! :goodvibes

Great reviews - thank you!

No!! Than YOU for putting up w my typos and taking the time to read along! I had such fun writing it!

First of all thank you for reading along and letting me know with likes and comments along the way that someone was reading my review! It made me feel great knowing people might be interested and I promise to be better about being less of a lurker in the future too! And yes, seriously, on the seating! I would have paid $75 a seat if I could have had a seat! It would have made it perfect instead of close.

Really enjoyed this dining review. Thank you xx

Thank you so much for reading along! I had so much fun putting it together and now I am ready to go back so I can do another one! I still have not had Aunt Liz's fried chicken or dined at Saana for the bread service or had Tonga Toast so there is always a reason to return!

Thank you for following along! I have to admit I was a little intimidated but then decided to just do what every college writing instructor ever said and write what I know and apparantly I know about pork, unremarkable wine, booze content, good waffle toppings and sugar overload! I always enjoy your reviews and think your little girl is about the cutest little precious and precocious thing! It's so fun to see Disney through here eyes. And on the dessert party - it needs a couple of beer choices. If they can make a chocolate bock they can serve beer with dessert. JMHO

And I feel your pain on fireworks crowds but don't miss the Symphony in the Sky fireworks. They are so cool and I loved them! I mean really loved them to the point I forgot I was standing up as I watched them

Hi Barb! Thanks for reading along! I have to admit that I thought the tea was nice but a hefty price and I might do it again with a grandchild some day but I can spend $50 pp in so many other ways at WDW and next time I will. But I am still dragging my manchild to tea with me when we cruise. It's funny to watch a giant man manipulate a cucumber sandwich and tartlet.

And maybe it is because I have a bit of a sentimental love affair with The Land that the revolving Garden Grill appeals to me but I also think when it comes to a buffet or family style breakfast that having to brought to you is just nice. I used to boondoggle on trips when the kids were little and remember touring alone w two kids and trying to balance three plates at buffets and hold hands and make sure they didn't reach for things with grubby little fingers and doing it all alone and I would have loved this kind of meal to take the pressure off mom. It was good too but it's hard to mess up breakfast.

And not sure if you heard this about me but I feel like the Galactic Dessert Party needs seating. It was our first dessert party and will likely be our last though I reserve the right to change my mind. I think it was an almost identical spread to the Frozen one save for different names and the C3PO cheese biscuits were probably shaped like Olaf or something. It was fun and the fireworks are really amazing. I mean really! I am about to say something profane - better than Wishes.

Anyway it was a fun little jaunt and now I will have to live vicariously through you all for a while. We just signed papers to start putting in a pool and there are other trips to take but I know we will be back to WDW soon. We always return to home.

Great review! I might do the dessert party just for the drinks, lol. I have never found a decent mixed drink at wdw in over 20 trips!

I am often torn on how to take others dining reviews, but yours seems spot on what I was looking for. I really checked it out for the the Star Wars dessert party, but now have an ADR for breakfast at Sunshine. I think we wife and I are also sold on the dessert fireworks, but how long did you actually get to stay there?

I can see $69 worth of drinks based on what I spend on drinks at Epcot, and not having to stand elbow to elbow like I did at the frozen fireworks. Would you thing the viewing area would work for someone in a wheelchair?

Just finished up reading your review! I love your Star Wars dessert party review. I hope they have it in May as we would love to try it.

Well I was paying 10.00 for a 4oz pour of wine so if you like Jim Bean and sweet mixers this could be the party you are looking for - see what I did there? I make myself laugh, anyway! And I was surprised by how strong they were and wondered if it was a fluke based on my bartender but a quick Google search later and I saw I was not the only one who felt The Force was strong!

First of all thank you! And I'll try to answer your questions with good info! If by Sunshine you mean Garden Grill I really hope you like it! I had a great time there and I would think with mobility issues that family style service would beat out having to manage a buffet but I am only guessing.

With the dessert party, I believe we could start checking in around 7:00-7:15 and the fireworks launched at 8:30. We checked in at 7:30 and an hour was ample to enjoy all the offerings, taste everything and take photos and even FaceTime my Star Wars nerdy son at home. If you choose to do it I would arrive early so you can get a table at the front rope as the bar tables and some serving tables are counter height. Not sure if that would be a wheelchair issue for you. Memory was the first station is table height where they do the frozen hazlenut mousse thing. The savory table and the cupcakes and other bitesized items were on bar height tables. The bar was tall also. The non alcoholic drink stations, coffee, ice cream and bread pudding station were standard table height and the soft drinks and water and ice cream were in coolers a little taller. The tables are not super tightly packed but I would arrive early to get upfront and maybe to the right hand side so you have a little more room to mover around. I guess it would depend on how wide the wheelchair is. And by all means enjoy the fireworks! I loved the display! Hope that is helpful!

Hi Jerri! So glad you made it over! I really did enjoy the event save for the seating issue and hope that if you choose to do it that you will too!

Loved this review!!!

I am going in July for a solo trip while friends are at a conference! I have the afternoon tea scheduled now so loved seeing your detailed review. I have never been since I am usually with DH and my boys.

I am also leaning towards Garden Grill for breakfast. We have never been there before.

You will have a blast. It is a little different but the luscious little self indulgences we take when we are alone are quite nice. I will admit that at home I was all "Incan totally do this alone - no problem" and once I was leaving for my first solo day I was a wee bit nervous but it all came together when I started the sensory experience that is WDW - the sights, smells and sounds! The background music loops and such and it floods over you - all the great memories you've made and the potential for so much adventure to come. Ok that is a little sappy but it was also true for me.

fantastic reviews and I love food porn....makes me anxious for three weeks to pass by us..thanks for taking the time to write this up and show us all

Thank you for your wonderful and very detailed review! Sounds like a super trip!

Thanks Vic! I am missing it terribly and can't wait to go back!

More thanks from me on your reviews!

Aww Linder - you are so kind! Hope that. Our paths may cross some day in the most Magical Place on Earth!

Thanks Pumba! Hope your trip is full of food porn worthy eats and no worries!

Thank you so ery much for sharing your trip!i love your sense of humour and it does through so clearly in your writing style. I thought I was the only person who detested coconut in all forms! I often say if I want to eat sunscreen I will just squirt it on my tongue .

I am thankful you mentioned the lack of seating at the dessert party. I was hoping to take my boys on our upcoming trip in May but my youngest wouldn't be able to manage a bar table. Heck, I'm only 4'11 so it's a challenge for me!

Lol it's been six weeks and I am still smarting (just a tiny bit) over that dessert party table issue so glad the info helps and girl I hear ya on the sunscreen. We just got off a Royal Caribbean cruise and they hid that vile stuff in the most unlikely places. Ick! But so many other options made it instantly ok - after I rinsed my mouth and sought rum therapy
