I was there this year from the 2-6th and last year the 4-8th, also did a mid-May trip a few years ago. Other than November May is my favorite month to go and this trip didn't change that! It was a little hotter than our other May visits but the humidity still was nowhere near as bad as the summer months. It did rain bad one day and as @Lesley Wake said we all had to cancel some plans, but we've had heavy rains in October, March, and August too and really for me this was just one day of my trip. Stinks, but no matter when you go you run the risk of rain Now the love bugs.............

My friends did Liberty Bell and were just swarmed

yes this was us! It was gross, so gross. And I love the Liberty Belle. They were worse this year than our previous trips as others have said but having been before I know they aren't always that way so I wouldn't waste too much time worrying, although I also don't do the pools there so I supposed if you plan lots of pool time it could really be aggravating. I do remember them fairly heavy around the pool at FQ back in 2014 when we did actually spend time swimming.

Really though I adore May!

I’m going to be opposite of many of the previous people. I was there April 27-May 7. I doubt I will return for May. I love flower and garden but I will do early March instead. The heat and humidity got to me so much that it really impacted my enjoyment-really dragging through the parks, not having an appetite, and just feeling icky with sweat. I even felt it worse than when I did my September trip in 2017! In May we also had to deal with crazy rainstorms and it unfortunately caused some cancellations in things we wanted to do. Sure, rain is all the time in Orlando, but May is starting to go into the crazy weather season!

Oh and Love Bugs. The actual peak changes year to year but this year was HORRIBLE! And they will irritate you! Literally they land everywhere and run into you and are just gross. Riding the Peoplemover I took off a flip flop to swat at them. On Magic Carpets I spent most of the ride trying to avoid them. My friends did Liberty Bell and were just swarmed (another friend did a cruise right afterward and it was so bad they didn’t even do the Sail Away party on deck)! At California Grill brunch, the roof was just a swarm of them so you couldn’t even go out on the deck! I was staying at Beach Club and one afternoon I couldn’t even enjoy Stormalong Bay for more than an hour! Maybe it was just me, but my other friends also felt the same way-just totally grossed out!

I guess that’s just my opinion. I just wasn’t a fan of May at all.

We are going May 6-15, 2020. I did the research, hot, but not summer humidity, afternoon storms. Great. No problem.

But I keep reading these reviews (I really should stay off social media, people tend to exaggerate) about how awful the weather has been the past 2 years!!! During the time we are going! All day rains. People saying it's sweltering. People saying they would never go again in May. Someone said 6 days of straight rain both times they went (past two Mays). Maybe the weather is changing...

Then this year with the love-bugs - although I don't think that will bother me too much.

Anyone been during May the past couple of years, especially the first two weeks - give it to me straight, should we think about another time? Crowds are not a factor for us. I'm not asking for a weather prediction, just your honest experience.

We're here now, and I have been part of a specific May group. Their reports have been favorable - the weather has been great. Early May there were a couple rainy days, but otherwise just your typical passing storm.

For our experience, the day we arrived they had a thunderstorm that passed within an hour or so. The last two days there hasn't been a drop of rain. There is no rain in the forecast until Monday, and even that just passing storms.

Temps have been variable - Tues, Wed it was partly cloudy, mid to high 70s during the day, and low 70s/high 60s at night. Thurs was much warmer, 85 and full sun, but mid 70s in the evening. The temp drops quickly as soon as the sun sets, or even when it clouds over. Compared to a summer vacation when it starts hot, gets hotter and then drops back to hot at night LOL. The humidity has been nothing, in our opinion. We haven't found it humid at all. Granted we live in a place that has humidity of 80+% regularly in summer. But it's definitely much lower than our last trip.

All in all, it's great.

Oh as for the love bugs, they are definitely noticeable. Two landed on my daughter's forehead to mate....lol. They are every where, but not disgustingly so.

yes this was us! It was gross, so gross. And I love the Liberty Belle. We were there last weekend for a quick 3 day trip, and we didn't have any rain at all. It was hot during the day (that doesn't bother me), but the evenings were pretty pleasant. This was my first experience with love bugs so I can't really say how bad it was, but there was only one time I found them overbearing in the parks. I don't remember seeing any at the resort. I would go again in May.

In my opinion, early May is generally a good time to go and most of my trips have been in early May. Yes, it can get quite hot, but it can also be a bit cool in the mornings and after sunset. I was there in early May 2018 and, if memory serves, there was more rain than usual. I thought I would try January this year and it was cold and gray almost the entire time. I much prefer sloshing through the parks in a warm rain to spending my Florida vacation wearing jeans and fleece the entire time! I have also had May vacations with little to no rain. I remember one trip when the only time it rained was during one of our table service meals and that’s it. I can’t speak to the love bug conditions this year, but they haven’t been an issue for me in the past. I have certainly seen them, but have never been in the midst of a swarm of them.

We were there May 12-17, 2018. We were “finishing” our Labor Day week 2017 trip that was cut short due to Hurricane Irma.

Before our May trip, the forecast was bleak. A (potential) tropical depression. We were bummed. Here we were, about to take our hurricane make up trip, and there’s a stinking tropical depression possibly in the works? After Florida had barely had any rain all April?

It was totally fine. We thought we’d be rained out every day based on the unusual tropical depression forecast. We were never totally rained out and only experienced typical Florida hot weather rains - an hour or two here or there. One day there was a pretty heavy late afternoon storm, but we were taking a break at the bungalow anyway, and as soon as it let up, we headed to Epcot and had a nice evening. There was plenty of sunshine during our 6 days despite the bleak forecast.

Crowds were moderate, even low at some times. Obviously who knows how SWGE will affect things, but we were pleased with the crowd level.

We have been in May before that trip and it is a great time to go! We would do it again. Our next trip is in February because we are coordinating 9 work and school schedules and that time will work best for everyone in 2020. May was definitely in the running.

But as my husband kept reminding me they don’t hurt you... I am a big wimp and did adjust Lol. We found the Liberty Belle was peppered with them for some reason and Typhoon Lagoon was a bad spot if you wished to spend time on a lounger by the wave pool. We spent some time at our resort pool and they were not too bad.

We have gone in August and September and I must say I really enjoyed May! I don’t think you will regret your decision And the Flower and Garden Festival was lovely!

We had a cruise last May this time and my hubby surprised me with 2 days in WDW. It rained both days. POURED. I was wearing Minnie crocs and I was sliding all around in them so I had to take short mincing steps all day, or wear soaked canvas sneakers. I looked like a drowned rat. My hubby did too.

It was the worst weather I have experienced in WDW, including the time I went when I was 12 and a tropical depression hung over WDW for what seemed like the whole trip. (June 1986)

It was a wonderful trip, no sarcasm. It poured, it was wet. I felt like I was showering with my clothes on. But...I was in WDW. My feet hurt and legs hurt from the short mincing steps...but I was in WDW. It took me twice as long to get from point A to Point B because I was worried about slipping, cause of my crocs and all the water, but I was in WDW.

Whatever the weather, whatever the temperature...you will be in WDW. Breathe. Dance in the rain. My hubby’s post would be different. Lol...He would have a one liner...

“Can you go at another time? No? Bring lots of socks.”

We went early may 2018. We had one bad rain day where my sons jedi training time got rained out. It cleared later in the day though and he still got to do it. No major rains any other day. We were there for a week.

Keep in mind that Florida is kind of always hot. The temperatures never really drop below 40F, and that's probably our coldest night lol.
On average a Floridian winter is 40-50F at its worst and 30F is New York Times worthy haha.

If you ever wanted to come around late April you'd probably be fine. Temperatures 70F and up. It's worth mentioning that the waterparks do have heated water but they wont open if the temperatures arent high enough so just keep an eye out. It's actually sometimes better to come early in the year because we have less people visiting the parks overall.

But you're right, nothing quite beats dying in the summer sun and then dowsing yourself in deliciously cool water. B)

Went a few weeks ago. It wasn't bad, it rained maybe a day. Most days were very nice, but hot.

I personally like when it's cooler so will probably go back during winter months.
