May Park Hours

I have seen the posts with all the frustration that the schedule for May is not posted yet, and I remember this being the case when we went last Spring also. I do see park hours posted with 8:00 p.m. closing each night Mon-Thursday. Can I assume that the hours posted are correct or do I need to just try and be patient and wait until everything is posted before I start filling in my itinerary?

Closing at 8 is typical during the off season. May is a off season month. So I wouldn't count on it changing.

Probably in a week they should show up, hours always are posted first.

There will not be a parade until May 27th when the new parade debuts.
I also heard F! would be down for most of May.

I only expect Fireworks on Fri-Sun in May until Memorial day weekend.

There is currently no parade in Disneyland. The new parade called Soundsational is set to debut Memorial Day weekend.

There is also not a normal parade at DCA right now due to all the construction. They are doing little Pixar shows several times a day in lieu of the parade.

My guess is that you might see show times start to show up on the calendar for early May sometime in the next two weeks. Sometimes Disney will update a bunch of dates at once. Other times it seems like they update only a day, or a few days, or a week at a time. I guess you just have to be patient and speculate.

I would expect WoC to still run nightly during May as it has done since it started. There will be some special nights when Disneyland closes early in May, one night due to the Pirates premiere and a few nights due to Grad nights; I believe these dates are already published so you should be able to find out more about those. If fireworks and/or Fantasmic are running, I would expect them to most likely only be Fri-Sat-Sun events at that time of year. I have not heard of Aladdin going into hiatus or refurb, so that will probably run 5 days a week. I can't remember which days are usually dark, but it's probably either Tues-Wed or Wed-Thurs.

I'd read in one of the "superthreads" that there are sometimes fireworks on the grad nights. Any way to tell in advance if this will happen? What time would they be - after midnight when the park is closed to regualr visitors? At least we'd be able to see them from the hotel. We LOVE fireworks and are really hoping to catch a break here.

In the off season most entertainment will only be on the weekend. The last few times in May the hours have been 10-8 M-F and 11, I think, on weekends. I'm hoping for midnight myself. I wouldn't expect a parade until the big debut week and also no fireworks or WOC unless on a weekend night. I'm anxiously awaiting the schedule from Disney though. Until then no one really knows what they'll do for sure.

So it seems plausible that unless it is going down for a refurb or something, that WoC will run every night in May.

Rwe: longtime is correct - WOC has had at least one show per night on weekdays, even during the off-season, since it opened last year.

Since I won't be there, I haven't paid a lot of attention to the Pirates premiere info, but I do believe they're using the island/river/Fantasmic seating area for that? With the Pirates premiere on Sat. May 7, I wouldn't expect Fantasmic to run that weekend at all, nor would I be surprised if it doesn't run the weekend before due to starting the prep for the following weekend. I would expect Fantasmic to run Fri-Sun the rest of the weekends in May (and probably the Mon Memorial Day holiday too), but it seems Disney hasn't bothered to post beyond about the middle of the month yet.

As for the weekend of May 7, we have been pretty sure about that for awhile now because of the POTC movie premiere. It is hard to read every thread but I did have one on this sometime in late January. So we knew F! would be down at least one weekend in early May.

My predictions in January in the above thread all turned out to be correct except for the date - Disney chose May 7 instead. I think the May 7 choice had more to do with grad nights starting the week of May 9.

I am a bit surprised it is down for two weekends though, and wonder whether it is related to the recent issue with SSC - and that they are going to take the time to fix that before summer kicks in.

With the movie premiere, I was wondering what will the impact be on the attractions on River of America - Columbia, Mark Twain steamboat, and the raft to the island? My family are planning to go on Friday the day before and Sunday the day after, but not on Saturday. The calendar doesn't show those attractions being closed, but the bleachers and other premiere-related structures will be up there. Anyone know from previous premieres?
