We just came back from our Thanksgiving trip and the day we went to DHS to see the Osborne lights I had to stop at guest relations to get an AP card, since I forgot mine. While the CM was working on the computer, we were talking about the lights and I said it's very sad that this is the last year we will see them. See then said that "well it may not be", she said that she has heard a lot of talk about keeping them and trying to find a new location for them, maybe even Disney Springs. Just passing on the scuttlebutt

I'm pretty sure that talk has come from message boards like these. The Osborne family was delivered an inventory list in the fall with all of the materials they will be receiving at the end of the season.

Unfortunately those CMs don't know much of anything more than we do.

They are going away at least for a year. There has been rumors of them going to Disney springs but I think that's unlikely.

There also is still a chance they return back to DHS eventually but it will be a logistical nightmare until the construction is done.

I know they are not back next year, that's obvious. It's just that they may not be gone for good. Everyone has an "opinion" no one really knows the facts except for the Osborne's and Disney execs.

Let's be honest...Disney knows when people believe something is ending it will increase the interest of it. So whether they plan to bring it back or not, they are going to broadcast it as such "The last time to see Osborne Lights in HS". Personally I think it makes financial sense for them to bring it back in some way, but they would not let that out to anybody at this point. Anybody claiming to know must really not be "in the know"

I have a feeling that we will see him in a few years, after the dust settles and DHS has explained. The lights are too popular to never be seen again; plus, it will lead to speculation from fans for years, and excitement when they reappear. I am looking forward to seeing them next weekend!

When I was a kid, they used to decorate the homes in the backlot with the lights, and that is what you walked through. They have moved those lights around the park, as they have changed the layout of DHS. I expect they will find a new home somewhere else.

I'd say there's a distinct difference between saying a holiday offering needs an update or replacement, and a knock down of Cinderella's Castle. I've seen many a post complaining about MSEP, and asking for Paint the Night. I think these two things are in line.

As the saying goes "Disneyland is not a museum!"

Well I agree to an extent. Osborne lights changed in ways every year. It is not the same show it was 20 years ago when it started. It's also only a holiday offering not something that lasts all hear. Finally it is incredibly popular, there are people booking trips just to see it one last time.

I don't think Osborne will be back, but it's possible a light show will be (whenever construction finally finishes). Disney really doesn't need the Osborne name and it costs them money.

The castle is an icon. The Osborne Lights are the result of Jennings Osborne who was inconsiderate of his neighbors by displaying the lights in the first place down in Arkansas. The community had to go to court to shut down the display all because an eccentric millionaire decided to willfully disrupt the neighborhood in which he lived. The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights represents a very sad situation in which Jennings Osborne was very unkind to his neighbors in direct opposition to the Christmas Spirit. The display had to be shut down by the Arkansas Supreme Court because Jennings Osborne was a very stubborn old man.

Disney should get rid of the display.

Because Osborne was a stubborn man that's why they should get rid of it? I do my own Christmas lights display. While I don't have millions of lights I have around 20,000. All done to music. My neighbors all enjoy what I do. I know of hundreds of people who do such displays and they even have a tv show about it. Also didn't Osborne buy neighboring properties to have a buffer to his lights? It's for just over a month of the year, it's not like it's year round.

Getting rid of the best Holiday attraction at Disney is not a way to keep people coming back to your property.I've looked at all the parks in Orlando to see where a possible replacement would go and the New York area of Universal Studios would be the closest to its current location.Any rumor of them going to Disney Springs is pretty unlikely,maybe for a year or two if they announce it like a temporary location until a permanent location is set to go,but getting large crowds who are getting in free to see the lights is not smart in many ways.If Universal decided to get in the game for the lights their Holiday offerings would trump Disneys,Macy's Holiday parade followed by the lights and a Mannheim Steamroller concert at Universal and Grinchmas at IOA,that's enough for many to switch their vacations over to Universal.Disneys Christmas in my opinion is even below what Sea World Christmas and Busch Gardens Christmas Town offer as they've really stepped up their game in the last couple of years with their offerings,even if you compare the amount of lights throughout the parks you'll see lights throughout those parks while Disney has many areas of the parks decoration free.

Yes Disney did add to it. I don't think Disney springs will get them because they want it as a draw for the parks. Disney springs doesn't charge admission.
