May May Bring Healthy New Beginnings

I will be spending time outside planting my hanging geraniums in the deck planter boxes. My allergies are really SEVERE this year as they have been for a few years. I will have to wear a mask and then shower and wash my hair immediately afterwards. It's going to be sunny and in the 80's, so I am wearing my bathing suit in the hopes that I get some color. I would like to fast forward a couple of weeks when the pollen calms down because it's gorgeous outside, and I would love to spend as much time as possible outside.

I always drinks LOTS of water, so that's easy to check off the list.

The motivation missing today has to do with work. I am exhausted from the weekend, and it took everything to drag myself into school. Coffee didn’t even help. There’s still so much to be done in the next six weeks, but I’m not at all motivated to deal with it today.

Fortunately, I’m very motivated to continue losing weight.

It's back to reality for me this morning.

WDW was really good this time, partly because I was able to stay out of my head and be present. I think the highlight was last Monday when I was just with my friend Lynne... we tour really well together. We managed to last all day and get all the way around EPCOT, even tho it was brutally hot. We split up for dinner and I ate at Germany. The restaurant wasn't super busy but the vibe was great, with everyone clapping and doing their oi,oi oi's along to the music. The band did their second set as I was finishing up and the dance floor filled with people just having the best time, it was so much fun. After eating Lynne wanted to see 98 Degrees, something I wouldn't have picked, but for a bunch of middle ages Dad's they were great. Then we stayed for the fireworks which I really enjoyed. The other highlight was accidently picking MK on a day when it was closing early for a corporate event. The crowd was very light, just like if it was a party night, and I did a ton of things I wasn't expecting to be able to do.

Some pictures, in no particular order:

We watched the fireworks from Japan.

Stopped in to say hey to naked Abe, a tradition.

I know that list well.

For some reason I am just now hearing about a book Miranda Hart (British comedian/actress, was Chummy in the early seasons of Call the Midwife) wrote in 2024, titled "I haven't been entirely honest with you". In it she writes about her journey with chronic illness and medical gaslighting (she has Lyme Disease) but also about learning how to manage her nervous system. I saw an interview a couple days ago where she specifically mentioned noise and how she has to have at least one day per week of silence to stay healthfully balanced. I'm in the process of learning how noise impacts me, so I ordered the book to hear her story... plus I've always really liked her.

I was really interested in how I would react to the the noise at WDW. I didn't seem to have a problem, I think partly due to how the Disney sound engineers layout the background music so that there isn't an overlap as you move around. I also did OK with the crowds, as long as all were mostly going the same direction... being in shops was chaotic and a real challenge tho.

Ooooh, I loved her in that show! I will have to look up the book.

I am going to woohoo that one kid is back under my roof and the other will be soon. DD and her boyfriend broke up last night and we moved her back here. She will be staying for awhile. The boyfriend was a nice kid but had 0 ambition to do anything with his life so DH and I are not upset. DD was upset last night but it wasn't a bad brake up and she is handling it well as far as I can tell right now.

DS will start to move back in on Friday (he is doing it slowly over a coupe of weeks). They didn't get enough of the guys to rent the house they were in but that landlord is really trying to find them a house to rent for the 3 that do want to rent. I can see him moving out again soon once they find a place. So not sure how long he will be here.

It is nice, and I am loving having them here, but this is a big transition for DH and I. We finally really started settling in with it just being us. DD will be working the night shift at a hospital starting next week so 3 nights a week she will be gone plus she will have school as well. DS has an active social life plus working a lot this summer and he is taking a class as well. I may not see them a lot but more than I did when they were not here.

Woohoo... I found my FitBit charger before it went completely dead. I knew I hadn't left it in the hotel room and that it was somewhere in the house, I'm working from home today and just found it on my desk.

Woohoo... Today I have my first acupuncture appointment in quite a while. I'm really wanting to go after getting my feet feeling better, so fingers crossed this will make a difference.
