May May Bring Healthy New Beginnings

Which brings us to a good Topic Tuesday - Do you have any particular goals in mind on whatever health journey brings you to this thread? And if it isn't a straight number thing, how are you measuring your progress?
I like to look at small picture first. So right now my goal is to lose 10 pounds. Once I hit this I will move to the next 10. I am starting with changing a few eating habits. Adding a few more fruits and veggies, portion size, and not eating out as much. I am also walking more. DH and I are back to playing pokemon and within the game you can create routes to follow between pokestops. We put one together close to us that is about 2 miles. We are doing this 1-2 times a week, plus taking our dog for a walk each day.
 
The long term dream is Onederland. I would love to be down 10-15 pounds by the end of June and 30 pounds by September.

My daughter arrived home last night from the UK with a chocolate treat that I miraculously turned down in order to stay on track. I’m afraid that one taste of chocolate will send me on a chocolate spree. Normally I would indulge myself, but she goes back and forth to London often enough that I can wait until the next time she goes.
 
I turn 70 this summer and omg, how did I get here? I don't feel 70... except when I do, and a lot of when I do is tied to being over weight and out of shape. So my short term goal is to lose weight. According to the recommendations for age/height that's another -60 pounds, but I know the next -10 will be a huge transition in how I feel and look. Then the goal expands to improved general health, both mental and physical.

Now that my weight loss efforts are starting to work, I'm at the stage where people are asking why I keep saying, "No thank you," to treats. I skipped the teacher appreciation breakfast on Monday with only a little push-back. Today I took a personal day to stay home with my daughter for her first day home from the UK, and her boyfriend asked why I didn't eat the chocolate she brought home. I told him, "Chocolate is life, but summer is everything." He got it and dropped the subject. Tomorrow will be the teacher luncheon and instead of our faculty meeting, an opportunity to socialize...and more food. I wish I could opt out, but I can't. UGH...

I'm just going to continue to keep repeating my new mantra, "Chocolate is life, but summer is everything."
 

I don’t have a number per se, partly because I don’t own a scale. I got by how my pants fit. My goal is to feel comfortable in jeans again and not get winded while walking up a decent incline somewhat quickly. Abstract but it is what it is
 
Woohoo… more than half way thru the week, since Friday will be a shorter day. I’m hoping to head down to WDW around 3p, so I’m there in time to have dinner at a normal time. I have a park ticket for Friday, so I’ll probably go over to EPCOT and get something at a booth. Woohoo… dinner at EPCOT!

edited to add... I'll need to do laundry mid-trip and woohoo this morning I realized I can have it done at the hotel here instead of taking time to do it at POP.

I'm appreciating that this week is almost over and that I've had the opportunity to be here and to stamp my name on a couple things. I'm a behind the scenes get stuff done kind of gal and people sometimes overlook what I've accomplished, so getting my name out there is important. Over all this has been a very calm week and I'm also grateful for that.

And I'm grateful that I'm in a position where I can do a Disney vacation, because not all can. Plus I am grateful that I have friends to meet up with this time, because one of the things that wasn't satisfying last year was being on my own - again.
 
And here we are at the end of the week! I'm hoping to head out around 1p, after my last meeting. It is going to be a very different arrival day as I won't be worn out from travel and I am already time adjusted. I am very excited about the prospect of having dinner at EPCOT tonight! With the Ozempic I feel full very quickly, so I'm thinking I'll get a couple light bites from the the booths. And when I get there I'll see if any Guardians spot are available. My friends are at MK today, but I really want to chill and ease into to it all.
