I'm sorry but I just need to vent for a minute. A while back I asked if anyone had owned a "Yorkie". Well, since I have finally decided to get one - I can't find any. None.... Anywhere....unless I want to pay over a thousand. (None close to me I should say). But, I finally convinced myself it would be good for me (since the divorce) to take care of a little guy that needs a little more care than Mickey. So I decide to do it and I can't find any ~ isn't that just typical

Where do you live in NY...near the city or more upstate. Here in the Catskill area most breed dogs run aroun $400 - $500 dollars...perhaps you could contact some kennel clubs outside your area looking for some more realistic breeders...

So sorry you can't find the puppy you want. I agree, having someone to care for would help ease your lonliness. Have you considered a different breed. Maybe rescuing a pup from the pound. If you heart's set on a yorkie, just keep looking and something will eventually come available.

$1000 does sound quite steep. $500 is normally the going rate for most purebreds. Have you tried the humane society, my loveable mutts were both from the humane society, they've been such sweet dogs. Having a dog around is such a wonderful thing, they make the best companions.

There are rescue leagues that deal with specific breeds. I suggest you search around the internet to see what you're able to find.

Try looking at the list in Dog Fancy or Dog World. Or go online and look at their ads (its up to you to screen the breeders).
