"May I please speak to your supervisor?" -does it work?

I've seen a few comments on other threads regarding ADR availability at the 180+10 mark (basically everything was unavailable) where some of you have asked to speak with a supervisor/ manager and have actually gotten the ADR you wanted. I'm wondering if this is because:
a) the supervisor was able to do a wider search than the original CM
-OR-
b) the supervisor had authorization to override the reservations system to book an ADR not available to other CMs, or not released yet.

If anyone has any experience AT ALL with asking for a supervisor/ manager when booking ADRs, I'd love to hear from you! Success or not, I'd like to know what the deal is- even if you weren't provided with an explanation as to why it suddenly opened up.

I was able to get more information from a supervisor (as to why certain places didn't have availability etc) and they seemed better able to split our party to fit certain times, but they could not override the system to find a magic table that wasn't there. Hope this helps.

Not trying to offend anyone, but I find it a little arrogant to ask to speak to a supervisor just because the reservation you want isn't available. If you think it's an actual fault in the system fair enough, but not just to demand somebody to override the system. I know it's annoying, I've been there myself, but unfortunately others got there before you, just keep checking back! I hate this culture of customers making a fuss until their demands are met.

It's neither a or b. Pretty sure it's just that the supervisor may be more experienced that the CM you talked to, and they might see a way to make it work.

I asked to speak to a supervisor because none of the restaurants had availability even at +10, since this was a problem I had never experienced before I wanted to make sure it wasn't an error. Indeed, it was a Disney problem and not that everything was booked up. The first CMs I talked to gave me the same exact pre-scripted line. it wasn't until I spoke to a supervisor that I actually got very helpful information. I did not ask for them to give me something that wasn't there, I just needed to know what to expect and why things weren't the way they had always been.

I agree that it's rude, but I'm asking because a CM told me specifically last week that ADR slots for some restaurants haven't opened up yet. For whatever reason, they're not all being released- it's intentional on Disney's part. A couple of commenters have had success after asking to speak to someone else, and I'm curious as to why that is. While I've been tempted, I just can't bring myself to do it! I signed up for the touring plans reservation finder, and I'm going to try online repeatedly every day until I get the one I want, but I'd like to know what the success rate has been for others who've been ballsy enough to ask for a supervisor!

That's what I experienced as well on the morning of my 180+, but I got the info from the CM directly. She didn't have to put me through to a manager. I think they're all getting just as frustrated as we are. What was the answer you got for why ADRs are so limited right now?

To be fair- this isn't about people waiting too long to make reservations. I'm talking DOZENS of posters on here who are waking up in the middle of the night on their 180+10 date, calling Disney in the wee hours of the morning as soon as phone lines open up and waiting 15+ minutes to talk to someone, logging into MDE online...and not a single ADR they request is available over the duration of their trip. Some of them for restaurants that aren't exactly "popular." It's frustrating!

I know it's frustrating, I've just done 14 days worth of ADR's myself. I didn't get everything I want, and some things aren't open yet. I just wouldn't ask to speak to a supervisor unless there was an actual problem with the system, not just because I couldn't get what I wanted. I guess everybody's different. But there really isn't any restaurant worth getting really stressed over.

At least at EPCOT, it's probably bc they're waiting to release the Candlelight Processional packages. I, too, find that frustrating, because even if they haven't nailed down specific presenters for each night, etc, shouldn't they still know that the CP is happening on such and such nights at whatever times?
