Does Disney have some sort of card that you use once you check in to put on your room charges food, supplies, etc??? Just did not want to bring that much cash. Plus, I am sure they have mac machines in Disney, right?

We rarely carried more than $100 cash our entire trip.

Charging privileges were attached to my DH's and my room key, used for almost all souvenir shopping and pool bar snacks/drinks and any snacks not on the dining plan.

We hit the MAC machine in the WL lobby right before we checked out, to have some cash for the drive home.

And yes, there are cash machines throughout the resort and parks.

I usually carry about $100 on me. I can pay for some snacks (on or off the meal plan) and small souveniers without having to whip out the ol' credit card for such a small amount. :Pinkbounc

If you stay on property, I have found that they cash personal checks, I believe, up to $50 a day. Works for me. :cheer2:

as long as you are on site, you can put a credit card "down" at check in. Your key to the world (disney speak for room key) than allows you charging almost everywhere. Almost anywhere with the parks , water parks and resorts take this. There are some independant non-disney own places in DTD that you will need cash or a cc for as well as on the boardwalk. Otherwise, I carry about $20 a day in Disney and with the exception of tips to resort valets, I usually don't spend any cash. A single drink, mickey bar, popcorn, etc. can be charged to the room

The room key will attach charges to your room... I believe the amounts are as follows:
$500.00 for value resorts
$1000.00 for Moderates
$1500.00 for Deluxe

When you reach the limit they will run your card and you can start over... but you have to call and ask, they don't do it automaticlly. We found this out when staying at All Star Sports after having been at moderates everytime before! Boy was I surprised when my card didn't work!! I just knew we hadn't spent $1000.00 already!! Well, we hadn't but I didn't understand the limit was different.

The cards are great, very convienent and work for almost everything in the parks and all the resorts. But we usually bring a little cash for ice cream and drinks just because it's faster. And tips of course.

Yes, I would carry a small amount of cash.

Some of the food carts don't take plastic of any kind.

I think you need cash for all of the parade vendors as well.

You don't need a huge amount, but it would be worth your while to carry a $20 or two.

I took $200 on our 7 day trip and brought home $140. I never took $ into any of the parks - and never ran into any vendor who wouldn't take my room key for payment.

The only time I spent cash was for tipping the CM's and food and parking at the airport (and we even ended up spending the night in the airport on the way home!).

Your room key is also a charge. You give them a charge card at check in and you have a $1500 limit. If you hit the $1500, then you go to the desk, sign off on it, and they charge it up again to $1500.

We also put some cash into our savings account that is accessible from our ATM card. There are numerous ATMs throughout WDW, so cash is pretty easily accessible.

We left home with only $100 cash on hand. The only cash we spent was @ the airport for incidentals. We 'put down' a cc at check-in. It was nice being able to carry one card for park entry, purchases and room entry.

the only things that don't take cards are the walkaround types of vendors... the big carts all take plastic, or room charge.

Taking a little cash into the parks is a good idea IMO. While most of the vendors take plastic, we ran into 2 who were unable to because their plastic reader was not working and they could only handle cash. It was much more convenient to pay cash there instead of find another vendor and have to wait in line. I never take more than $40 though.

I would have a little cash on hand. For instance if for some reason your card doesn't work you can still grab some food on cash. Stuff does get stolen and lost so don't carry more than you can afford to lose.
