A friend of DD may be coming with us on our May trip! The girls are 10 and her friend may fly down with us on Friday and then we'll put her on an airplane for home on Tuesday.

I know it's a good idea to have a signed and notorized statement from her parents that I can authorize medical treatment in an emergency.

Also take a photocopy of their healthcare card.

What else do I need to do? If her mother does not come with us to the airport and gate, do we need something to show the airlines or to have on hand that I have her parents permission to travel with her? She doesn't look like my child at all and in fact is of middle eastern decent so don't know if the airline will question anything or not.

Any recommendations or tips would be appreciated! The tickets are not bought yet so this may not happen but as we learn on the DIS BE PREPARED!

Thanks, Sharon

Perhaps ask her parents to get her an ID that is something like a driver's license (I got this at our local government office that issues driver's licenses for my daughter when she was 13 and going on a school trip). That would take care of any issues at the airport if her parent/s are unable to come with her.

Another suggestion is, How about having telephone numbers where parents and grandparents can be reached in case of emergency?

The other things you thought of were excellent!
