May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

Cindy I PMed you. Im hoping you got it (it wasnt in my sent folder). Question.. should I buy a FE with 4 pockets??? I really was only going to do it for my kids. If adults are included or should be, can I do 1 pocket for DH & I?

I have a family of 5 and we are doing 4 pockets. I made one following the no sew instructions that are posted in the FAQS thread. It was very easy and I am not crafty at all. But if you are going to buy one I saw some really cute ones on etsy.com.

Oh thanks! Im going to ck that out! I love the ones on etsy, but I dont want to spend $40+ for one!

lzmom_of_twins - We ordered our FE extender through Etzy as well, and it looks great. We did order 1 with 3 pockets for DH, DS & me. Even though not everyone will give a FE to all participants (some just give to the kids), it was just so cute and was definitely a highlight on that cruise for all of us. Cindy & I were on the same cruise in Nov 2009, and we received a TON of different things ... custom magnets, temp tatoos, bandanas, hand-made luggage tags, a hand-made tote, a large ziploc bag full of "DCL survival gear," candies and souvenirs from all over the country, Forget Me Not flower seeds, custom picture frames, etc. We also did the pillowcase for our DS. By far, the best souvenir we got! All for the price of some permanent markers and treats for the CM's. Our DS took it to school for show 'n tell. I'm sure you can do that with just about anything ... picture frame, t-shirt, etc. Very worth while!!

I'd LOVE to get your thoughts on Wyndham Bonnet Creek as that's where we are likely staying in Oct when we take our DS to WDW for his 5th birthday!! Can't wait!

Can't believe it's less than 100 days! Woohoo!

Ok I cant find the no sew instructions (this site moves really slooow for me) Can you post or PM the link when you get a chance.

Luz I can def give you a report. I have talked with a few people that have stayed there and they all loved it. We are renting a condo from an owner SUPER CHEAP!!!!!!! If you go to craigslist.org and go to the Orlando Florida page and then search Bonnet Creek. You will find owners renting their timeshare condos. We were originally staying in the hotel section. We saved $230 by booking thru an owner AND that is for a full condo w/2 bedrooms!

Hi all! We just reserved this cruise yesterday for myself, my husband, our 5 year old, and my parents. Alaska in September was supposed to be our first cruise, but I guess I caught the fever (and haven't yet stepped foot on a ship), so now this is our first every cruise! We're planning on the trolley in Key West (our son is CRAZY for trains and it kind of looks like one), the shallow dolphins at Atlantis (just for our son and myself, everyone else will watch and then we'll all wander Atlantis), and then the sting rays in Castaway Cay. I really have my heart set on all of these, so I'm hoping we can get them when it's time to book. Can't wait!

Ours has two pockets for the two of us...I have seen FEs with all kinds of configurations though, including those that have one pocket for the parents and separate pockets for the kids.

Oh thanks! Im going to ck that out! I love the ones on etsy, but I dont want to spend $40+ for one!

I bought ours on etsy for $20 or $25, and love how it turned out!

Oh man, we made out like bandits on that cruise, didn't we? I love all the magnets we received!

And totally excited about the double digits too!

Yea! Welcome aboard! Sounds like great plans you have! Just an FYI, the Key West trolley if booked through DCL does not have on/off privileges. If you book it yourself either ahead of time, or buy tix once in port, you can get on and off at designated stops.

See if that works, the board is being very slow for me also.

I thought it was just me! The board has been slow all day...ugh!

Oh, did anyone else notice we will be docking in Key West at Outer Mole, which is the pier at the Navy Base? They have a shuttle (which you must take off grounds) that will drop us off at the main pier (B). Apparently RCI's Majesty is in port the same day and snagged pier B. Anyway, just an FYI if anyone is booking excursions on their own...you may need to build in a few extra minutes for travel time off Navy property. (The shuttle also brings you back to the pier.)

Very important info Cindy, Thank you! Just my two cents: There is no cost for the shuttle. It is provided by the city of Key West. We will be transported to Mallory Square and there we can take the trolley/coach. I forgot to add that if you make the tour by yourself children under 12 are free!!! (in my case it's a BIG difference!):dance3:

Or the bigger question... are you an Ohio State fan... Go Blue over here!

Love it! Iowa Hawkeyes here Go Hawks! But since all our kids have been born and raised in Ohio they've been brain washed with the Sloopy song since grade school. Picture our first son 10 years ago at his first school music performance and my DH sitting in the audience. At the end of the performance the Music Teacher says she has a surprise for everyone in the audience. The kids start to sing, "Hang on Sloopy, Sloopy hang on O. H. I. O!" My husbands jaw dropped and I just busted out laughing!:rotfl:

I wish I could figure our how to multi quote.

@iloverags2 Docking out of the Navy Base should be excited for my DS's, they love anything military. I've been making my FE's and I'm stuck on the boys but I think I have some good ideas now. Do we have any new families? I'm at 7 counting us. Do we have 8 now?

@magicbegins Buying the trolley tickets online is great info! I wasn't going to buy tickets through DCL because I knew I'd want to get on and off. But if I buy through the Key West web site I'd be able to hop off and then get back on at different spots? That would be something worth having!

:dance3:

That's a huge savings, and big difference in the cost with buying through the cruise line versus on your own! We have found many companies in Key West have great rates for various tours and the like, if you purchase directly through them.

That is too funny about your son! We had a similar experience in our household. If any of you are from Florida, you will totally get where I am coming from with this. I graduated from Univ of Miami, while my husband is a Univ of Florida grad (Hurricane and Gator in the same house...oy!). So, my husband's daughter starts thinking about colleges around her junior year in HS and decided she wanted to go to Florida State Univ. :scared1: She did end up going locally to Univ of North FL, but she is definitely an FSU fan. Not sure how that happened!

As for multi-quoting, at the bottom right of everyone's posts there are three buttons. The first is "Quote", which when selected will automatically quote the post you click that in, and take you immediately to the Reply box. The middle button has " marks in it. If you want to multi-quote, select that in each post you want to quote, then when you click the Reply button, it puts all the quotes in the Reply box. You just place your cursor where you want to type each reply. :)

We added another family last night (my bad...I didn't get the spreadsheet out before work this morning as I had planned...I will email it tonight). I can't remember, but we are up to 8 or 9 families now.

If you purchase the trolley tickets on your own, rather than through DCL, you will have on/off privileges! Definitely a great perk!

Got it thanks!!!!!!

Welcome aboard Jenf22!! I'm going to purchase my tickets on line at http://www.trolleytours.com/key-west/ because it's cheaper and with on-and-off priviledge at 12 stops, while as Cindy told you the DCL is a 1 hour non-stop tour. Hope this info helps you...

Luz
Thanks for the link. I am def going to look into that. My kids would love it!

Sorry Christina but I wasnt the one who bought the FE, I didn`t buy it yet... tomorrow I'll go on summer vacations  to Pinamar beach, in the Argentine Coast, I`ll have enough free time to think about the presents for the FE!!!

Hi guys!

Quick question - for those that have done this cruise before, which is the best side of the ship? We've got a 7A room and just minutes ago were able to grab room 7120 (a secret verandah!), but I'm thinking that's the non-coast side of the ship. Is it more interesting to see the coast as you're sailing or are we too far away anyways?

We were also able to move our late dining to the early dining today. It's our lucky day! :cool1:

Thanks all!
