*May 27, 2012 DISNEY DREAM* 5-night Double Dip to Castaway Cay!

Weeho! So close now!
Thanks Karen for the movie list...love the Muppets and hoping to fit in the Avengers! popcorn::

Hubby is officially done with grad school and lived to tell the tale (nurse practitioner) and we are still happily married (heehee) :lmao: (let's just say insane program...so glad to have him back although we joke that we will have to date all over again just to get reacquainted!)

I just passed my professional counseling boards after fulfilling 3000 hrs of supervised work while dealing with a new diagnosis of rhuem arthritis of the spine (what a journey!) :thumbsup2

My dad (on cruise with us) has been declared "cancer free" after treatment in January! :cheer2:

My mom (see above :) ) is celebrating her bday and has survived us all!

It is time to party!!! :dance3: This trip has been a long time coming and we are sooo glad it is finally here.

FE gifts are done and ready to go and ...yes....I confess I have started to pack.

Anchors Away me hearties!

Sounds like you have a lot to celebrate. My long term plans include NP school. So I will have to talk with your DH.

Most of my FE gifts are done, at least the time consuming ones for the kiddos! Just a few more to put finishing touches on then I will be finished. Packing is going to happen on Wed. 15 more days til I head out on my vacation and I work 10 of them (and those are 12 hour nights, folks.) Not looking foward to the working part, but I am looking foward to the paycheck part!

This is my first post and I am not sure how all of this works! My husband has been reading posts for the past couple of years so we finally decided to join. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise and I can not wait!!!! :cool1: For the past 6 months we have had some much going on in our family and I think it all finally came to a head this past week. In December my dad had a car wreck that he is still recovering from. My mom in January and a really close scare with breast cancer. In Feb my 97 year old aunt fell and broke her hip (she is still doing well!) And then in March my grandmother (who practically raised me) was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She passed on Friday. Oh yeah, did I mention I was finishing my Masters in Nursing for Family Nurse Practitioner and I have my boards 5/16!! So yes, me and my family are READY!!

Look forward to meeting some folks. I have been trying to read through the posts, but it does get overwhelming!! My husband and I have 2 boys 8 and 10 and they are counting the days as well.
Is it too early to start packing????

Hi Amy, wow, what a busy life and such good reports on your Dad and all the school work! You have so much to celebrate and glad you can do it with your family on the Disney Dream cruise ship. I am having my cruise party this Saturday with our kids and grandkids to package all the FE gifts. I am also having a quiz about our ship to earn "Dream Dollars" and "Cruise Cash" We will play some games related and have a pirate themed dinner and dessert. Hard to believe we will leave St. Louis in two weeks and be cruising very soon.

Safe travels for all and see you real soon.

Am I the only one who didn't realize that Disney gives you a boarding time when checking in online?!!! Didn't check in until yesterday-can't board until 2:00-Uhggg!!!! Had I known I would have checked in ALOT sooner!! Is there any chance that they will let us board sooner if we get there early, or are they pretty firm with the times? This will be our 3rd cruise, but it has been a couple of years since our last. They have never done it this way before-when did this start? :confused3? I need to be a lot more up to date with what is going on!

Are you taking Disney transportation? If you are, I believe it doesn't matter when you have your port times. When you get, you there. This started a little less than a year ago. I am not sure how firm they are with the times.

No-we are driving our own car. Bummer. I called and asked DCL-they said the times are pretty firm unless someone happens to cancel. Anyone with experience with this? I will know better next time!

I haven't had experience with this, but from reading on the main DCL board on the DIS it sounds like they can be firm with it depending on how many people are arriving at that particular earlier time that you show up. I've read you may have to wait- but not sure if that means wait like 30 mins or a few hours until you scheduled time. You may want to post this specific question on the main thread to get more feedback from anyone who tried this. If the consensus was that people got in earlier or only had to wait less than an hour, I'd probably show up early, but if it sounds like you may end up waiting all the way until your regular time you're probably better of spending the morning doing something else.

Do we have any kids (or teens!) that are Harry potter fans? Thinking of doing a fun HP themed FE gift. (don't get me wrong-we are die-hard Disney fans, but we do have a place in our hearts for HP too!!) :) let me know-I may just do them for who would like them!

Oh my goodness, would all 6 of my grandkids be delighted with ANYTHING Harry Potter related. In fact, I am doing another Harry Potter Party this summer for them. They all have wands and three have robes, etc. You would totally make their day!!

Maybe this is a stupid question...hopefully someone can answer...
We have the 8:15 dinner seating, and have a 6 pm Palo reservation. I read on DCL that you skip your regular dining room if you eat at Palo. Granted, I could not eat two meals back to back, but I have 2 kids that need to eat too. Does this mean that we can not show up at our regular dining room that night?

No, you can still eat at your regular dining also, or take your kids there at that time and you just eat at Palo. Its totally up to you.

We actually did this once. We had palos but our friends ate at the main room so we went to eat a 2nd dessert with them:) and had a drink and talked with them for dinner. No kids. U can take your kids to the upstairs or quick service places or room service or they can eat dinner at the kids clubs. Theres a ton of options and i bet they would like to skip the main dinner anyway. Something different.
