Sorry guys, we really don't know our way around Rome that well to do that for you. We were there 3 days and most of the time our activities were planned for us which meant we really didn't pay too much attention to how we got anywhere. Our hotel was fairly close to the Vatican and walking distance to the Spanish steps and Plaza de Navonna (don't know if i spelled that right). We took a bus to the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain so i'm not sure where they are. We also went to the fountains at Tivoli (amazing!) and Pompeii (also amazing!). If you've never been there before, I would pick a tour that does the highlights of Rome just so you can say you've seen them. John and I were originally planning to not do anything and just stay on the ship....then we started to get all romantic about returning to the Trevi fountain so we could toss our coins and ensure another trip to Rome. I think we may break down and do the catacomb/farmhouse lunch trip because for us it would be something different and we get to visit the fountain just before we return home.

I'd be very interested in going as a group into Rome. I've been working on our must see, must do and must buy list for Rome. I'm trying to memorize the map so that it seems familiar when we get there (I am the human compass!) Maybe we can compare notes on what everyone wants to see and organize it to do together and then separate in the early afternoon so everyone can go do their must see's. One thing we are very interested in doing is sitting for a leisurely lunch to watch Rome go by us. We are very interested in the ruins, via appia sounds interesting too because we'd like to see the catacombs. What is everyone else intereted in? Shall we start another list of who is interested in going together to Rome on OUR own?

I think if we all go together to get there and meet to return then we can decide what to do in the middle. I think it would be fun to get off the train at St. Peters, get together for lunch and then go do our own things in smaller groups, joining back together again to catch the train back to the port.

Todd, the kids and I are interested in getting there are getting back with the group on the train.

We're planning on meeting a guide from Angels tour. The guide is walking us through the major sights. We start at St Peters square between (9 & 9:30), then the Colosseum and forum and ancient rome and finish with the historic center. We finish in Campo De'Fiori where they recommended we have dinner then back to the ship.

If that sounds like we'd fit in we'd be so glad to see some familiar faces as we're heading for the train station!
