Kim,
I wrote you this huge post regarding pompeii and then the dis server must have gone down and poof :wizard: it was gone. :rotfl:

 Drat - I'm sure it was a good one too!

A friend loaned me a book on Pompeii that has transparencies over photos of the ruins so you can see what it was probably like at the time of the eruption. My kids think it's pretty neat. (I do too)

We got a book like that with transparencies about the Colosseum. It's called "Then and Now" and is a pretty neat souvenir. There were vendors selling them all over the place.

We will be too busy chasing around a toddler to join the toga fun. I have a feeling we will be the strangers with lanyards! :) Just like we were on our last cruise!

OK, that is the saddest post I've ever read!!!!!:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

We travelled with a barely two year old last time and had a great time!!!! Did a ton of stuff. We will teach you how to do it - I promise.

No need to not join in. Lots of us either have kids or had kids. Besides, someone else's toddler is cute. You'll have tons of ready-made aunts and uncles raring to help out. Christina fondly remembers Peter playing ping-pong with her (although she's definitely not so fond of the missing french fries). :rotfl: Memories like that (and Christina's duck-duck-goose games) are priceless. Even if it's only ten minutes on deck 9 enjoying morning coffee and a muffin - do it! :thumbsup2

We're all on this boat together - so just join in on the fun! Togas and all. After all - aren't those the type of things we want to teach our kids? Okay, so maybe not how to tie a toga properly. :rotfl: But I love passing on to Christina the enjoyment of meeting new friends, seeing old ones and just plain having fun. Even if it does mean walking around in a bed sheet! :lmao:

We had a fantastic time on our Disney cruise last time. Except we tried pushing his bedtime so we could enjoy shows and it just didnt work at all. So we swapped off who would watch the rugrat in the room and who would go to the shows! :) This time difference will be a BIG help this time...hopefully. Naps will be MUCH better now too and now that we know we can book into FLounders MORE than 10 hours...just not more than 10 in advance! YIPPIE! He was 16 months and teething BAD last cruise...

Between juggling activitiest for the little one and time with the in-laws... who knows... we will try to be as social as possible! :) My husband was excited about the lanyards...so that may get things moving with him. He is reading the DIS Boards now too! :)
:scared1:
Thanks!!! Can't wait to meet those we can meet! :) *grin*

Just allowing Sue and the Girls to chat for a few minutes.

I think she likes getting away from mom for a few minutes!

Christina is a real fun Child! :cutie:
Cant wait to See you All Again!!!

Here is rate info for Cingular assuming you are calling in an area where their reciprocal carrier resides. The rates are for call that you make and calls that you receive to your home number. The roaming isn't based on who called you, but where you are in relation to where your home phone is. So - if your neighbor called your cell phone number and you were in Spain, you would pay Spain roaming rates. If your hotel in Spain called your cell phone number, THEY would pay international rates and YOU would pay Spain roaming rates.

These are per MINUTE charges!

Sue

Spain, Italy, France
Roaming:
Calls Placed/Received
While in Spain Cingular Standard International Roaming $1.29
Cingular World Traveler $0.99
Cingular Canada $1.29
Cingular Mexico $1.29

Text, Picture and
Video Messages: Send Text Message $0.50 per message sent
Send Picture and Video Messages $1.30 per message sent
Receive Text, Picture and Video Messages Home pay-per-use or package rates apply to all text, picture or video messages received when roaming internationally. Please visit www.cingular.com for details.

Spain and Italy's primary reciprocal carrier is Vodaphone. France's primary reciprocal carrier is Orange. Coverage maps are available on Cingular's website if you want them.

It is unknown what carrier you'd pick up aboard ship while we're at sea - and at what cost.

Sue - thanks for this info - do they charge for incoming calls in Europe? Like they do here? If not - then I guess one could just accept incoming calls and ignore VMs <I am planning to actually change my message to "only leave messages that are not work related">

Good morning and welcome to another day closer to the cruise!!!!

I'm getting so EXCITED!:cutie:

Hi Peter,

Is that webcast going to be on Disney's regular site? Or somewhere else?
Thanks a Million!

Has anyone heard whether or not Disney will have special pins to commemorate the different ports of call for the Mediterranean cruise? I hesitate to ask knowing what grief those of us who were on the inaugaral Panama canal cruise went through to get those pins .... but I know that Disney learned much from that experience:rolleyes1 so I would expect any pin distribution to be much less problematic.

Marie

I am new to chatting, as I have lurked for years. The special cruise pins for the Inaugral Med cruise will be open stock on the Magic. My daughter saw the pins at the Contemporary pin meet recently. There should be no problem getting the desired pins this time as was the case on the panama canal westbound cruise in '05.

Hi Everybody,

Pepperpike thanks for the info. DH has been wondering about the pins for each of the ports. Who plans on bringing your pins with you? I'm hoping DH will pack just a few for trading. The kids think it's funny that he gets checked by security everytime we fly.

We haven't been as active on this board as we have been on previous cruises. Planning this trip has been a bit overwhelming. Please feel free to pull up a chair with us when you see us in Rockin' Bar D or Diversions.

Anyone have a 12-14 yr old who would be interested in corresponding with my almost 13 yr. old daughter? We tried starting a thread a while ago, but I think that the trip was too far off. I also have a 9 yr old DS who would be thrilled to email a future friend.

OK, I have to share a story.... I have been busy and not checking the boards everyday, I figured I'd get caught up eventually, so, imagine my surprise when I gat a bunch of emails one morning from my mom (who reads EVERYTHING on this board and many others) with links to items on eBay which were Togas for Sale! I was REALLY preplexed!! :confused3 Needless to say, she filled me in... I LOVE the idea of a toga/wine/tour party/gathering/thing...! If anyone needs help putting a toga together on board, get a spare sheet or two, and I will help you when you arrive. A cord or rope that you bring from home will certainly help.... (I used to be Toga-Master of my fraternity)

I would like to suggest a Sailaway meet and greet on the Top Deck, midship, on the side of the ship that faces the Dock, at, say 5pm? We could meet, get our lanyards, and say HOWDY!

Also, I know I mentioned it before, but lets get a solid group together of people who will be at Rockin' Bar D most of the nights so we can save space for each other...

I can't WAIT to see the lanyards. Our lanyards have a special place in our scrapbook!

And an "aw shucks" for the Christina compliment. It does make a Mom proud to have a fun child. :goodvibes
Of course I'll be locking her up at age 11! :lmao:
