For those of you who don't know Tracy's Mom was diagnosed with a terminal illness yesterday and was given approximately six months. Tracy posted today that one of her Mom's final wishes is to get tickets to the Oprah show. I have been trying to figure out what we could do to get make this happen....

I would suggest that all of us write a letter on behalf of Tracy's mom. I am at work today- but I would be more than happy to write a form letter tomorrow that everyone could just cut and paste into their browser. You would have to register on the site so you can email. If people would be willing to email them- perhaps if there were many emails, we would have a better chance?

The studios are pretty close to the hospital- so if worse comes to worse, I'll hoof over there one day and plead our case. Also- if we were able to get tickets- would anyone want to help chip in for hotel rooms for Tracy, her Mom, and her sisters? However, I might make T book the rooms, so she can get the travel agent.

Since we are on a 'health' note, Allison is a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society here in So Cal. One of Lauren's day care buddies (when they were 2) was diagnosed with Leukemia. He has been thru lots of chemo for about 4 years....in total remission now. One of my patients was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was 8 weeks pregnant. She is in total remission and had a very healthy 7 lb girl just before we left. I participate in the 'light the night' walk and they are two reasons I do. Allison is a bit more aggressive. She is participating in a century ride (100 miles, folks) for the LLS. She is raising donations for the LLS with this ride. She has asked me to send this link to the disboard and hopefully we can help her and all those afflicted with blood-borne cancers with treatment and research to rid us of this disease.

Hi everyone. Just checking in to let you I am reading. Thanks everyone for the words of support. Mom started radiation yesterday. The way they have to move her around made it pretty painful so she was up most of the night. Hopefully it will get a bit better as the treatments progress. Right now I am splitting my time between home and here (here on weekends) so I feel like I'm running ragged, but reading the boards gives me an escape!!

Hey Tracy,
I understand about those impossible positions. My mom went thru a few months of Rad therapy after a few months of chemo. All, thankfully, went well for her. JUst being there is a great support and relief for her. My mom finally moved within a mile of me and it has made all the difference. She is doing great now and looking forward to her 86th birthday! We will all keep you both in our hearts. And DO take out some time for YOU. As a 'sandwich' person, watching over mom and daughter and granddaughter living with us, I know how important that is. Even if you take an hour and a half walking thru Target at 8 pm it is somehow renewing. (yep, I've done that...I did feel so much better..didn't buy but one or two things, but it was empty and I could walk all the isles without people being there)

Ken, thanks for asking. She is half way to her goal!!!! I am so excited for her. Yesterday's training ride was 53 miles. God bless her tush, legs and back! No more road rash.
The race is on Aug 18 in the Santa Barbara, Ca area. Lauren and I will tag along for support....and for me to drive home on Sunday!!! Just to have a few days away from the big city rat race...no pun intended...I'm certain will be renewing.

Also, we are having a neighborhood party next Sat nite (so glad it is Sat) and I was tellling our neighbor about the vanilla martinis. Did you post the receipe or was I just dreaming? If you have it, could I get it from you? I do think my neighbor will be eternally grateful!
