Who's going on the May 25th 4 night?

we are! this is our first cruise and we (DH, DD5 and DS10) are going. are you an experienced DCL Cruiser?

This will be our third on DCL. Myself, DW, and DS 11.
We can't wait.

sorry, i should have seen the history below your countdown. We can't wait either.

do you have any recommendations on which excursions are good in Nassau? I was thinking of maybe just going about short tour of Atlantis and then coming back to ship early.

joyv, We're not much for excursions and most likely will stay aboard in Nassau. The Hard Rock Cafe is about the only place we may go to this trip. Sorry I can't help you with that one. :)

Looks like I am on this one also!

Shari

This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise. It will be my husband and I, DS 10 and DD 15. This will be our FIRST family vacation ALONE (well, sort of!) since before our kids were born so I guess you'd say we're overdue. We're really looking forward to it!

We'll be there! Me, my DH and DS, age 5. This will be our first cruise ever. We are all sooooooo excited! :Pinkbounc

MARGARETMOUSE - You're going to LOVE it! Your DS is the perfect age to enjoy it, and the day at sea makes the 4-day a lot more relaxing than the 3-day. The latter always feels rushed to me, but <I>any</I> Disney cruise is better than <I>no</I> Disney cruise and I go at any opportunity!

Thanks, Taswira! I'm sure we are going to love it. We've been planning it for about a year now. My son is not sure if he wants to "hang out" at the Oceaneer's Club yet....he's still undecided.
I can't wait just to sit around and relax...we are going to WDW for 8 days prior to the cruise....we're gonna need a "vacation" from our vacation!!! :p

We're thinking of staying on board during the Nassau day. Any ideas for us for that day?

Thanks!

Margaret - On Nassau day on the 4-day there is usually a Princess Party in the Atrium at around 9:30 a.m. Although you have a son, he <I>might</I> want to have his picture taken with some of the princesses. From what I have seen it isn't "just for girls." Then there are Board Games and a Mickey Challenge in the <I>Promenade Lounge</I>, "Family Time" in the Oceaneer Club and Lab, usually a 1:00 movie in the <I>Walt Disney Theatre</I>, some sort of "skills challenge" on the Wide World of Sports Deck, another movie at 3:30, the <I>Island Magic</I> Live Character Show at 3:30, usually some sort of seminar (such as weight & nutrition, etc.), Character Greetings, jackpot bingo, etc. And of course the pools (much less crowded on port days!), relaxing in those comfy deck lounge chairs on Deck 4, the Spa, etc. I don't think you'll be bored if you stay aboard in Nassau. That is usually my choice as well.

Thanks for all the info Shari! It's funny you mention the princesses. I don't think my son will go near them this time! Last time, he proposed to Cinderella! He was only 3 yrs old and it was the cutest thing! We had lunch in the castle and saw Cinderella there. Chris really didn't want anything to do with her, but on the way out, no one was with her so she called us over. When we went to Toontown, we saw her again. Chris got on one knee and asked her to marry him! When she explained that she was already married to Prince Charming, my son responded "That's ok, by the time I'm older he'll be dead!" I was on the floor! Poor Cinderella had to keep her cool....she said "Oh my, you wouldn't want Prince Charming to die , would you? Afterall, he is our friend" I was dying! I have the whole thing on tape! It's one of those things that he'll kill me for showing when he's a teenager!

I'm just looking forward to relaxing...maybe hang out on the pool. Is the Oceaneer's Club open during the day at Nassau?

Oh, my! That is HILARIOUS! You should send it to "<I>America's Funniest Home Videos</I>" or something. You might win some big <I>money</I>!

I don't have any kids so can not tell you exactly what goes on in the Oceaneer Club on Nassau Day, except the "family time" thing. Maybe someone with kids on this thread can respond.

good to see other people on this cruise!

MargaretMouse, your son is adorable! I have a 5 yr old daughter and a 10yr old son and they are also not sure if they want to go the Club/Lab. I hope they go for at least a few hours so we I can have some alone time with DH. This is also our first cruise so we are all excited, and we are also spending time at WDW before the cruise. We are also from NY (New York City). I hope you enjoy your first cruise.

My kids were a little disappointed that they will miss school for a week (can you believe it?) If my mother told me I was missing school for a trip to WDW I would have been dancing for joy! But now that they have seen the video and I showed them pictures from the website, they are getting excited.

LadynTramp, did your son enjoy the activities the last time you went? My son is a little apprehensive about being left alone with other kids in the Lab. Any advice would be appreciated.

Taswira, thanks for the tip about the Princess party. Im sure my DD will love that. We are also thinking about going on the aquarium tour in Atlantis, on Nassau day, do you think that's a good idea? Maybe go for the Princess party, go out to Atlantis for the tour and be back on the ship in time for dinner? Or is that too tight of a schedule?Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Actually, any opinion anybody might have is welcome as well. This board is so informative, I really appreciate all the info that Ive been getting from it! Thanks in advance.

joyv - If you go to the Princess Party and then head to <I>Atlantis</I> on your own (NOT on the DCL excursion), I don't foresee any problem. I am not much of a fan of <I>Atlantis</I> so am not the right person to ask about it (but no one else seems to have answered you yet). You might PM to MarkRG, whom I believe had some good info on it recently. You can also visit their official website <a href="http://www.atlantis.com/" target="index">HERE</A>.

Shari

thanks again, Shari. I PM to Mark and hpefully will get an answer soon.

FYI - There are people listed for this cruise on the <I>Unofficial DIS Cruise List</I> who have not yet posted on this thread. I did an "unofficial" list for our cruise <B><a href="http://www.primateprojections.com/travel/DIS052503.html" target="index">HERE</A></B> and included them also. I hope it is okay with everyone, as there is no link to that web page except from the DIS. If anyone would like to add more information (seating, kids and ages, WDW before or after, etc.), just PM me and I will post it.

Thanks,
Shari

Hi Shari! Thanks for organizing our list!!! It looks wonderful. We will try to be there for the "mini meet". See ya then!

For those who may not have checked <B><a href="http://www.primateprojections.com/travel/DIS052503.html" target="index">THE LIST</A></B> recently - I updated some info, plus there is a "Mini DIS Meet" at 3 p.m. in the <I>Promenade Lounge</I> on embarkation day (more comfortable than being outside in whatever the weather might be).

If you want to add any info to your listing or if I am missing anyone, please PM me.

So are there any lurkers out there going with us? :p
