May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

I can't find my blue jean shorts!!!! I hope they are in a kids laundry basket!

:rotfl:my capri pants end up in my sons laundry all the time!!! He even put them on one day and wondered why his jeans were so short! Of course he figured out they were not his jeans...but he had to get them on before he realized it!

HE machines should say somewhere on them that they are HE. It would seem strange to me that DCL would install HE machines and not the proper detergent. Or maybe they don't care. I just know what I was told...and what LG says to use for the machines, so I don't take any chances and I use Tide HE. The machines use so little water, that I think that is why you need the HE detergent. I know some say to just use half the amount & use regular...but I was told that is not the same as using HE.

I'm guilty! Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends on what's on sale. I'm probably ruining my machines.

I am guilty myself:rolleyes1
I bought a bottle of a different brand detergent and thought it was HE...I had used it several times before I realized it was NOT!! So of course I have to use the rest!

That's funny! :lmao::lmao::lmao:Sorry to your son, but I had to laugh!

Heading out to DD's end of the year party for her K class. Should be fun. Will have to make up some work hours from home this afternoon.

All packed, boarding passes printed, and now to go to work & pull a 13-14 hour shift. They always seem to do that to me the day before I leave on vacation. Oh well, so I only get 4 hours of sleep tonight. I will be on vacation!!!

Ok, I think I am packed. found the shorts. So I just have to pack the toiletries tomorrow and we are off!!

Safe travels to everyone! I have a feeling I'll be one of the few that posts in the morning. We head out tomorrow at noon & will be staying at my sister's in Orlando area tomorrow night.

Technically, is there a limit to how much or what kind of alcohol you can take on the ship? Just asking because it seems odd that anything you buy on the ship you can't get to until the last night.

Was hoping to take a bottle of wine and some rum. Is there a liquid issue like on the airlines?

Wow I sound like an alcoholic.... :rotfl2:

There is no limit, but you have to be able to carry it on board and get it through the x-ray machine. Also, although anything you buy on board will be held to the last night, anything you buy in Tortola and St. THomas you will take to your cabin. To quote the head security officer (who we tried to hand our liquor to after purchasing duty freeon St. Thomas), what you do with it is your business. Just be sure to finish what you bring and open, customs (not Disney) is sticky about bringing open bottles back.

Darn, I didn't realize that the laundry facilities are not on every floor. We're on the 5th & there doesn't appear to be laundry there. Oh well! Also reading that the washers are now the high efficiency ones. I bought the 1 load liquid Tide packets. Does anyone know if I can use that in those washers? Or do I need to go out quick & look for something different???!!!:confused3

Hi, yes you can use "regular" soap in the HE washers- I do it all the time at home if I grab the wrong one.

I have the LG HE front loader and use the regular detergent - I was told to use 1/2 the amount I was using with my old machine. I have not had any problem.

It's $15 plus a 15% gratuity for a total of $17.25. On the other hand if you fill a wine glass up beforehand and bring it into the dining room, the charge is zero.

On the Med cruise I bought a corkscrew in Avignon, opened the bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape in the stateroom and carried it to the dining room. Was not charged corkage. And they kept the bottle for me and brought it back the next night.

Ugh one more day of work.

We are ready, seven bottle of wine bought. One rolling cooler and one rolling duffle.
Have a safe trip all and see you Saturday. Any one staying as the residence inn?

It's been raining off and on all day, and has been pouring tonight. I'm going to have my husband put my bags in the car now. Depending on what the 10:00 weather report says, I may go stay at our apartment tonight. Our house is on the "wrong side" of a creek that floods when it rains, and I don't want to be stuck over here.

Sooo...this may be my last post.

We'll see everyone at the port!!!

Just got off my 13 1/2 hour shift. But the day was great. I worked a wine dinner for a wine club. One of the bottles was $2000 and he had 2!! Can you even imagine. I had to handwash 110 glasses. 11 kinds of wine, 10 men. As I was finishing them off, the man told me that the 'fatboys', as he called them cost $300 each. I almost peed my pants!! Thank goodness I am always very careful when I wash their dishes & glassware, but $300 a glass! Give me a break. Anyway, as I was leaving, he handed me $200. I was already on the clock & made gratuity off the party. I just love rich people who share! Almost pays for my nephew who is watching my critters- and I have a mess of them. Dogs, cats, birds, tortoises, fish, & a rat.

Anyway, I'd better be off to bed. Stacey is picking me up in 4 1/2 hours & I at least need a nap. Hopefully I can sleep on the plane.

See you all onboard!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

cloudy and overcast today here at WDW. Hope we get a few hours today of sunshine. Not raining now, but it's supposed to.

Today is our 16th anniversary  We are going to Jiko tonight for dinner and off to the port tomorrow morning :woohoo::woohoo: I am starting to have weird dreams about embarkation so I woke up early. All will be fine!

See everyone onboard tomorrow!!!
