May 2013 PTR ~ Flower Garden Festival ... Again! Plus staying at a NEW resort!!

Hello! I followed your link to your PTR from the May facebook group. I will need to go back and read from the beginning as I have only read the last page. I probably won't get to go back and read until later today or tomorrow. Monday is our Disney park day after school and theater!

Okay I would like to get some opinions. I know that they vary, and that honestly is the best part of the DIS is you get such diverse opinions.

Here is a little background:

I originally booked AoA in Finding nemo, however, I am spoiled rotten by my DH and I've been pricing rooms for Club level at Wilderness Lodge or the Boardwalk. Wilderness lodge we will need two rooms and it is about $2800 more than Boardwalk deluxe room (which with my discount is only really $2000 more than AoA). The price really isn't the issue... Since this is a trip to remember my mom I am not truly worried about the cost.

So basically what I am asking is WHICH resort would you stay at? We have 4 kids 16, 9, 9 and 6 at the time of travel. We do swim a lot in the afternoons. I enjoy the boat rides, but both resorts have that option... We really love Epcot and MK so that isn't a factor either. I can find pros and cons for each of them, so how about you guys that have actually stayed at these resorts chime in? Thanks a ton!!!

We have officially changed our resort!! We changed to BWI Deluxe CL We have never stayed at a Deluxe resort let alone CL, I am looking forward to it!

Now I have so much more planning to do!! It is really going to change our whole trip being that close to Epcot. Eric is going to want to go to Epcot everyday/night!

I also changed our park tickets to Park Hoppers instead of the WPM option!

Changing from AoA to the BWI CL is only costing us an additional $1700 with the discount code that we have!!! Seriously?!?!? I can not believe that the price is so similar. If you break it down it is only $35.00 more per person per day to stay Deluxe CL and the location is amazing!! I've always wanted to stay at the BC but the BWI is really close to the BC so now I will be able to explore the other resorts to see what one we want to stay at when it is just me and my oldest. :goodvibes

Have I mentioned how EXCITED I am?!?!?!?!?! :dance3::dance3:

I think you made a great choice. I've stayed at both the Beach Club and the Boardwalk. I prefer the Beach Club because of Storm-a-long Bay. The pool at the Boardwalk is very nice too, the clown at the water slide is a bit creepy though. Between BWI and WL, you definately made the right choice. The Boardwalk is at a great location. It will be so nice to walk to Epcot or boat there.

I'd highly recommend eating breakfast at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club one day if you haven't ever done that. We love their buffet and it's never too crowded. Most of the time we didn't need to make an ADR there.

Does a Garden Suite allow for 5 in a room? I think it would be very ideal to have your own little cottage. Perhaps they only accomodate 4? I know they are traditionally honeymoon type suites, but they are big. Maybe they aren't concierge though?

I think those cottages are so cute, but I do think they only sleep 4. We have 6 of us, so the Deluxe room is perfect for us. I am so excited to stay at the BWI. I've made different plans that are based on that area. :goodvibes I've been sick since Christmas, so I haven't shared anything, but I will be doing so in the next day or so. I'm starting to feel better and my kids are back in school so I have a little more time to work on it.

Following from the May FB Group :)

Here's a link to an awesome movie night thread....but be warned it is addicting :thumbsup2

:worship: That is an awesome thread!!! Thanks so much for sharing it! I need to plan another movie night. It will be the 19th. It is a day after my oldest will get her wisdom teeth out, but I'm sure she can sit on the couch and watch the movie even if she isn't going to feel like eating. Maybe I will plan one that includes ice cream, just for her. I think they want to do Princess and the Frog or Mulan. But if I figure something else out that ice cream would be good with then I could do that. That thread is so going to make this easier. :hyper:

No problem! :thumbsup2 Have Fun!

JUST following along. I wish I would have picked up some 3.00 princess barbies for our trip. My youngest is Barbie and princess crazed at the moment. I was at Walmart on BF but wasn't really shopping toys.

So I think that we are going to do some movie theme nights leading up to the trip. Every other Saturday night Eric has the night off, so I was thinking that although I work on the weekends I could plan some themed nights. But I'm not the most creative person in the world, so any ideas? I read a PTR a while back and the mom was so creative, but I can't find it. She did things like round tater tots for wheels and chocolate covered prentzel sticks for dip sticks for a Cars themed night and Pizza for Toy Story (because of pizza planet).

Anyone have any cool ideas? Here are some of the movies the kids decided on right off the top of their heads:

Mulan
Cinderella
Toy Story 1, 2, 3 (one of them)
Cars
Lion King
Little Mermaid
Pocahontas
Bugs Life

And two other movies not yet thought of, because we will have 10 chances for movie nights. I'm not counting the weekend right before we leave because I think it would be to hectic, unless we do Toy Story that night and have Pizza. :lmao:

I'm so sorry about your mom, it sounds like she was a fun and loving mom and grandma. The balloon idea is nice but I know she'll "be" with you there seeing your smiles and smiling herself. :goodvibes

I'm loving the PTR, especially the font (easy to read) and the great pics. :thumbsup2

As far as movie night you could watch Lady & The Tramp and have spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. :)

Also a fellow April DISer! Found your PTR through the facebook group. :)

YAY for switching to the BWI! You are going to love it! My dad and I stayed at the Boardwalk last April and it was amazing. It is so nice being close to Epcot and also DHS!

I found your PTR on the April thread.
I think it's wonderful that you're honoring your Mom by going to Disney. I know my Mom would love something like that.

Your kids are adorable. Have you considered making a Disney countdown for your youngest?
I've seen some that are simply paperchains. Though it may be better to actually have ALL the days listed to fill. Kind of like an advent calendar.

Just catching up on your report! We will be arriving on the same day as you almost the same time! However we are flying in to Sanford International Airport (It saved us over $500.00). Maybe we will see you around the parks!

I totally failed on this TR... so sorry guys.

We leave in 9 days and 17 hours!! I'm pretty excited. :goodvibes
