I'm sure that as time flies by and we get closer to sail date...we may get a few more people here. Wont that be nice!! :cool1:

On my last cruise, we had a lot of people join us within 2 months of sailing. Of course, many people admitted they had been "Lurking" for a long time and finally decided to say hello. :rolleyes1

It's sure nice to have friends to look forward to meeting and this forum sure is an ice breaker,it's somewhat a door opener,

Its like a PRE-CRUISE meet...Its nice to get to know people on here that you will be cruising with and people who are just as excited and anxious about the cruise as you are

Hey there,

We're here to join the fun! I'm cruising with my best friend from college and my DD who will have just turned 13 two months before the cruise. We all love Disney, but my DD really loves it. She wants to be an Imagineer when she grows up. The cruise is her special (and only, lol) bat mitzvah present.

We got our cruise cabin on the first day it was available, and I would have joined earlier except that I didn't know these boards existed. Silly me!

I haven't read through all the posts yet, although I will in the next day or two. Until then, I do have 1 burning question:

My DD's (and my) great concern is about age grouping for the kids. She is a young 12yo and will probably be a young 13, too. She's also the oldest in the family, so she's used to being around kids younger than her rather than older than her. I think about her with the 13-17 yo group and I shudder. 17yos are in such a different space than 13, and my DD isn't even in a 13yo space yet!

Does anyone know if there's a way for her to be with the 10-12 group instead? Can I make the request beforehand? Can I ask onboard? Can she visit both and make a decision? How strict are they about the ages?

Thanks! And I'm happy to have found you all!:cool1:

:dumbo:

Welcome Pink Elephants!!!! Glad you could join us here!

I can't really answer any of your questions regarding your DD, hopefully someone else here can, if not, try posting the question on the main DCL forum, I am sure you will receive a quick response and reassurances there.

Don't forget to vote on your choices! I am posting a copy of the info thread right after this reply. :goodvibes

reposting this, trying to keep it current on the last page til the 29th!

Ok....so as I see it we have a few things to think about. I think it is VERY important to make sure that everyone in this thread is included and that no one feels left out or left behind because they haven't been on the thread for awhile. It would be nice if everyone on the thread could give their input, so I am posting this here and then on the first page of the thread ( I will continue to post important info etc. on the first post in case it is difficult to find in the thread, especially as it grows) so that everyone can vote or have input etc.

Please vote on: (voting begins July 22....ends July 29th)

Cruise meet on first day- Promenade Lounge Do you want 2:00 or 2:30??

Fish Extenders- Information on what a fish extender is, is provided below) Who would like to participate, and how many people in your stateroom?? (list to be tabulated at later date if we have enough people interested)

Toribelle: would you be able to keep track of the votes for us? Once July 29th has come and gone or the majority of people have voted, perhaps you could post that? (Toribelle agreed to keep track for us)

Fish Extender Info: (provided to us by Tazgirl1981)

Here is a link on the Fish Extender info

And what you do is each member that decides to participate in the Exchange Buys or makes one of these and has them hung by their stateroom door. Then Everyone gets or makes gifts or brings something special for each person participating in the exchange. You dont have to give much, it isnt to break the bank so to speak. But its something fun and its neat coming back to your room and having a gift or two waiting for you

On the other meet that I am on, They made a list of who all is participating and then their stateroom Numbers and AGE and/or occassion of who all is traveling (in case you want to do something related for gifts) and Each person gets a gift for everyone (whatever you want).

You can assign people to give their gifts on certain days if you want everyone to get a gift each day or if you like or it can be a free for all (meaning you can give them out whenever you want to during the cruise). But each person is supposed to get a gift Also you can either just get gifts for certain ones or you can get gifts for everyone thats participating (depends on what the rules are going to be) for the cruise meet that I am on for October, You must bring something for everyone on the list...about 16 people so far participating on that one. But not every cruiser participates or has to, just whomever would like to

I'm not sure of the answer to it but I am sure it doesn't hurt to ask the cruise line either by phone or once you arrive on board...I'm sure that they would know the right answer for ya :thumbsup2 Also like Laura001 suggested...post on the main DCL part of the forum and I am sure someone could possibly help you out with that ::yes::

well there was not alot of voters, but everyone that did vote, voted for Magical MAYniacs. So it looks to be the offical name of the group.

WELCOME PINK ELEPHANTS!! Pooh fan perhaps?

With regards to your question concerning your DD, I took this information directly from Passporter: "...older kids cannot join younger groups..." pg 144

I understand your concern. My DD will be 12 when we sail and she too is "young" for her age. On our last cruise the teen set did indeed seem quite mature. We saw several of them in the hot tub together, behaving badly. I wondered where their parents were considering it was after 11pm. She can always try the club for a few hours and if she doesn't like it just don't send her back. Who knows maybe she will!

If you come to the meet, perhaps your DD and mine will hit it off!

laura001-- Do we have official results on our vote yet?
Since we only had a few people participate perhaps we should give it another week. What does everyone think?

tazgirl1981--I like the 1st one (Mickey) the best. Nice work!

Pink Elephants-- Sorry about my previous post. I don't know why it didn't quote right. Computer savvy I'm not.

Zerog-- keep counting down! Raise the roof!:woohoo:

No problem! By May 2, you'll be a forum expert. :cool2:

I usually just hit the quote button located at the bottom of the post, then delete the stuff I don't want repeated. Just make sure '['quote=person's name']' is at the beginning and '['/quote']' is at the end (replace each '[' with [ .. I had to do that or I'd get yet another quote).
