May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

JFA

I am so sorry you lost your ring. :sad1:

Your cabin doors would have won 1st prize for the best decorated, if there were some type of contest. :thumbsup2 It was nice being 2 doors down from you, as we passed by your rooms at least 15x per day.

As far as the hypnotist, on the last nite I remember the lady sitting on the end that grabbed the stack of $100 dollar bills (errrr, napkins) off the table. Was that Marcia?

Yes, that was her :rolleyes1

She was so funny. She was in the Rockin D also did you see her there? She slapped the host on the bottom while "under hypnosis". Again, don't know what to think there really. Either way, we all had a great time!

It was nice seeing you down the hall too. Thank you for the comments on our door. It was so much fun to make and made it very easy for my 4 year old to find the door.

Do you have another trip planned? We can't wait to do it again. The transatlantic cruise we booked a room on the 5th deck so we can be even closer to the Oceaneers Club!! I don't know who liked it more, my husband and I or my daughter:goodvibes

My husband did come home with a cold, but thankfully it's gone now.

We just had an amazing time (aside from the ring of course).

I love everyone's photos. Keep them coming.:cool1:
Lisa- thank you so much for all your kind words. I am so happy we had a chance to meet. I ended up buying alot at that sidewalk sale.:goodvibes
Laura- Are you back yet? It was such a pleasure to meet you and your husband.
JFA- I hope you find your ring. That is so sad.:sad1: I saw Marcia twice and she stole the show at the Rocking D. So funny!!!!:rotfl:
Is anyone else doing a 4 day cruise with the wonder in April next year? My family will be in Disney World for ten days in July at Saratoga Springs and two weeks at Christmas at the new Animal Kingdom villa. Love to see some of you there.:dance3:

My husband did come home with a cold, but thankfully it's gone now.

We didn't make the Rockin-D hypnotist show; we only saw Al/Sey and the ventriloquist at that venue.

Our DD also came down with a cold on Saturday, and then my DFIL got the sniffles/cough. At least it's not swine flu! lol

Although this cruise was probably the best one yet, we did NOT book a new vacation. :sad2: As we all return to our 'normal' lives, I will miss the DisBoard and all the wonderful people. I will also sorely miss having that big something to count down toward in 53 weeks. I did go as far as to get quotes for a new cruise, but didn't act on any bookings. We've now done both the Eastern and Western 7-nite cruises, plus a short 3-niter. My DW would like to try something new. Unfortunately, DW and I finally figured out that our likes/dislikes are 180 degrees apart on the ship. She likes to just relax and lay around, and I want to go-go-go. DW actually 'compromised' and attended the excursions and extra adult shows, and had a good time. But still, there was unneeded tension getting there. :rolleyes1

Just because you aren't going on an upcoming cruise, doesn't mean you can't visit the board. I am sure many people with upcoming cruises would like advice/experience tips on cruises. I don't have a cruise planned for a while, but I will be visiting to see if I can offer any tips that I learned from this first trip. The biggest one for me...I did NOT need the over the door organizer...and I looked all over for one of those before we left. I hung it on the door and I never put a single thing in it. I found there to be plenty of storage in the rooms for 3 of us. But maybe that was just us. We had several draws that were not even used.

Anyways...you don't have to go:sad2:

Very nice photo's - unfortunately, I don't recall seeing you on the ship. It's funny how you run into the same people over and over, and others you don't see at all. I seemed to run into Laura, Lisa, AdventureLover, and Fluffycat everywhere. But we saw Myth-USA once, and never again after that.

DW did not believe the hypnotist either. However, the ventriloquist had us all in tears. We saw both the family and adults show. :rotfl2:

Don't worry, I didn't see you there either:confused3. And I was looking! We were lucky enough to have Lisa, Jim and the kids as neighbors. I saw Fluffycat from a distance at the magic show, and I think I may have seen Laura at dinner and the DVC presentation. Laura, were you the one next to my daughter who I made give up her barstool? I was going to ask, but then my darling daughter decided to give me a hard time.

jfahome-I am so very sorry to hear about your lost ring:sad1: Maybe by some miracle someone will find it soon and it will be sent your way:wizard:

Unfortunately we missed the hypnotist show, but I did hear a lady talking about it at the spa, and she felt that she had been influenced and didn't like it at all!::mad: Anyway, sounds like we missed a good laugh! That's two people from the MAYniacs who had family members on stage...for those who caught the ventriloquist, that was Ashlottes DH on stage!:rotfl:

Zerog, you and I must have run into each other 15 times the first 4 days!! It was so nice to meet you and your daughter. I would have said hello to your DW but she looked as if she was ummm, "enjoying" getting her hair braided:scared1: I hope you both had a wonderful time, and please don't leave the board yet, I think several of us want to keep the MAYiacs going a little longer:grouphug:

Again, thanks so much to everyone for making this trip the best we've ever had!!pirate:

You cannot make me leave this thread!!! :scared1:

We rebooked while onboard.....I just canceled. Several concerns: 1) we booked for a December 5 departure. We would have to drive and I am worried about the road conditions if we get nailed with bad winter weather and driving through the mountains. 2) Chiara will be in 7th grade and it is the end of the quarter; she may miss tests. 3) I thought I booked on the Wonder and when I looked, it was the Magic. Love the ship but we have done this one twice-I am hoping prices will drop for the summers cruises when the new ships launch. I would think the "pro" Disney Cruisers would rush for the new ships.

We should plan some type of central reunion...it would be nice to all meet at Hilton Head at the DVC property. ZERO G....this would be a place where DW could relax and you could do various activities.:woohoo:

I am finally getting rid of my "bed spin" sensation. It has been really bothersome. Michele.....don't expect me to get on the round and round rides at the Point!!:scared:

We did not see the hypnotist. DD went and she enjoyed it. DH was turned into a rabbit by the magician. DS 3 was terrified and started crying. I was off looking for wine glasses for a bottle of wine and missed the whole darn thing.

I did run into someone from the town where I grew up while on the ship. The parent of someone that I know.....both he and his parents work at WDW.

Sorry about the wedding ring! Glad you had the insurance.....we insurance adjuster are glad to help.

Wishes to All!

Hiya
I'm not going away just yet.

That was my DMIL getting her hair braided. She took the remaining time that was scheduled for our DD, who had had enough after the lady was half-way thru. DD was supposed to get her whole head done. I'm clarifying because some people have referred to my DW as my daughter; there is a 14 year age difference.

It was nice to meet you too. And, it was fun racing you down the road in Key West. Our golf cart rental didn't move very fast either.

Hi everyone,

We got back late Monday night after a surprise post-cruise trip to Universal Studios for Emilie, who loves rollercoasters and hopes to design them someday. I would have written in yesterday, but I started my summer job yesterday so it's been a bit hectic around here.

It was a great trip and so great meeting all of you! Thank you for all of the wonderful and thoughtful FE gifts. I seemed to run into Darlene and Mark the most (we seemed to hit the same kids' games), followed by Audrey. There were many of you that I never met and wished I had. I kept looking for you, but I'm just terrible with faces. ZeroG, at least 5 times I thought I saw you, but after embarrassing myself twice with strangers, I gave up.

Best of all for me was just having so much time with my daughter one-on-one (which just never happens when you have 3 children) and with Dorie, whom I haven't gotten to spend that much time with since we were roommates long ago.

Here are a few of our photos (among the few hundred, lol!). Take care all of you, and I hope that we someday meet again.

Zerog-
Sorry about the mix up on family members, I know the little one was your daughter, but your DMIL's poor face was a bit contorted while getting the braids...she helped me decide NOT to try this!:lmao:

That was funny in Key West! The bicycle tour was the highlight for us there. Your family looked as if they were enjoying themselves in the "giant golf cart"!:goodvibes

By the way, I really didn't mean the above comment in any sort of sadistic or mean way, but while she was getting braided she glanced at me with an attempted smile and any woman whose ever had their hair combed would know that "oh gosh their ripping my hair out" grin and bear it smile.:sad2:
Just wanted to clarify!:goodvibes

Oh, I didn't take it that way at all. I just didn't want anyone to think that my DMIL was my DW. :scared1: G-Forbid, LOL. ;) Oddly, I am closer in age to my DMIL.

My DMIL married a much younger man about 10-12 years ago. This was her fourth, and they are still happy! :lovestruc
By the way, you must look young for your age as I don't think you and your DMIL look that close in age. You also look thinner than the picture you posted a month or so ago (the one with your cute kids!).

I have started an album of my cruise photos at the link below. I just thought I would share :)

I miss the ship and the islands so much!!! I can't wait to go back.

Candis

Candis-Thanks so much for sharing. Your pictures are AMAZING! I miss the ship and islands too! I told my husband I'm suffering from PVD-post vacation depression:(, really though, I don't feel like working, I don't feel like going out, I'm just bummed to be back to reality. Oh well, I'll shake it off soon. (either that or book another vacation:cool1:)

I'm pushing 50.

I lost 15 to 17 pounds before the cruise, kicked off by a New Year's resolution. Unfortunately, I pulled/strained something near the collar bone in March so I stopped lifting weights. It was nothing extreme, but it felt uncomfortable. My goal was actually to lose 35 pounds, but at least my pants fit me comfortably. Ok, that is TMI. :upsidedow

Thank you for the kind comments.

~Darlene~

Darlene, Beth wants to know when in July and Dec? We are going to be at WDW July 24 to 27 and Dec 3 to 6. If anyone else is going to be there then let us know.

Dave and Beth- We will be at Saratoga Springs July 19-29th. In December we will be at the Animal Kingdom Villas December 20 - Jan.2nd. I would loved to meet up in July!!!!
Lisa- I saw your husband in the show when he turned into a rabbit. It was so funny!!!!:lmao:
Candis- your photos are amazing. What camera do you use?
There were many people on our ship who did not know there was a dessert night at Lumiere's. Apparently when I spoke to Christian there seemed to be a mistake in the navigator and they forgot to mention it. For those who missed it I am including some photos from that night. Randy, I think I can spot your lovely family in these pictures.:goodvibes
