So I changed my dates!

I called CRO and I added on 3 days and bumped the dates up. At first, the CM said she couldn't get me POFQ, only POR. But then she sprinkled some PD around, and viola!
2 rooms @PoFQ, using pin code that I had, and I am saving $650 from the original quote she gave me. I'm only paying $450 more than my original trip.

So....for $450 more, I am getting two rooms, three more nights.


Um, okay, I've confused myself. Again. I hate it when that happens.

Lake - thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures of SC. I have some friends that moved there to retire 3 years ago and they love it. We also have friends in NC that moved there 4 months ago - so we need to get back there and visit real soon.

Shelly - I think you should definitely go to WDW in Jan. 2009. Why not?

Jo - Glad to hear that you were able to extend your stay at your resort. You really got a great deal for those extra days and rooms. Congrats!

Afternoon Mayers!

We're having an Ice Day today....all the schools are closed, so no class, but I have to go to work this evening

At least we still have power....

Only a week and a half left of class and 5 weeks from today I leave for Disney!

So much has happened since I was on, so let me recap everything ...

Shelly, here's the sight... on Saturday, I got off of the DIS, turned on the tv...and they were having a special on...Oglebay resort! I said "oh, oh, oh, Shel's there!", and everyone was like... Glad you had good weather. The cabela's looks like the museum of Nat. hist. Loved the elephant...they are my fave. Everyone always yells for Mom when one comes on tv.

Lake~ Have you posted any pics of Charleston??? I don't know if I saw them... We are headed down there for Christmas in 11 days. I cannot wait. My Mom and I are taking Belle to see Beauty and the Beast. She doesn't know it yet.

Okay, here's my news. You ready?????????

We moved the dates of our trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I looked on Unoffcial Guide's website for crowd projections, and saw that the week before Thanksgiving, our week, they were estimating 7's out of 10's. Um, no thank you.

Really, I have been worried all along about crowds. I just am used to not many crowds now, and can't go back. What I was coming up against, though, was a little thing called Florida football. (BTW, our QB won the Heisman!!!!!! Woot!) DH wanted to go to the Carolina/ UF game, but we talked for about 3 hours last night and this morning and decided to bump it up. Now our dates are October 23-Nov 1. I am ecstatic. Now, instead of spending three days in Gainsville, we are just going to stay at POFQ the whole time (9 days) and drive down to the game Saturday morning. The kids won't know about any of it. I'll tell ya'll my plan later...

Oaky, let's see, other news...

Oh, I went to my dr this afternoon. She is telling me that her gut is telling her that it's rheumatoid arthritis that isn't showing up yet in blood tests. The MRI showed swelling in my right foot and fluid on my tendons. I didn't even know it was swollen.

She wanted to put me on a medicine for arthritis and I declined, because I am feeling pretty good. So for now, it's a wait and see game. I just don't like taking meds and will do anything to get out of it...


Ok, um, let's see, what else?

Oh gosh, ya'll have 5 months! Frozen banana dude, again.

Now I have to go and change my ticker and change my dates with WDW. Oh, I can use my Pin code too and save almost $500! WOW.

the rest of them are a few pics of charleston... I love architecture...and this has to be american historical architecture at it's finest!!!!

Ok, here my trip report from last night's Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

My wife and the boys left our home about 4:45 p.m. hoping that the traffic wouldn't be that bad yet. HA HA. No dice. The traffic was moving like 15 MPH on the 405 from the 10 to Sunset Blvd. then suddenly everyone started moving! We got to the 101 E and hit more traffic but it was moving at 40 MPH! Got off at our exit at 5:35 pm - 18 miles in 50 minutes - another LA record!

We find our parking on the studios lot and head up the elevator to the Legends Plaza. This where the Partner's Statue and Roy and Minnie bench is and the bronze plaques with the handprints of different Disney Legends are. Took lots of pics here. This area faces the Michael Eisner building that has Seven Dwarfs statues on it.

We walked passed the ME building and down to Buena Vista turnabout area and commissary. Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale and Santa Claus was there. There was face painting, ornament making, picture taking with Goofy and they were selling candy, Borders had set up a small bookstore area with holiday books for sale, fresh Kettle corn (got some!) and the Diseny and Employee store was open. We went into the store and pick up the pin for the night. It is really nice and they only made 300 of them! We bumped into Andreas Deja at the and said hi to him. He is the animator who draws Scar, King Triton, Lilo, Mickey and Minnie and others. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_Deja

They were having a sale at the store - everything 40% off except the videos!
Unfortunately, the line to pay was always long - no less than 40 people in it.
We did pick up a sweatshirt and another pin at the Employee store. Shorter lines! After that we got some Kettle Korn and headed over to the roundabout where they were going to light the Christmas Tree.

At 6:30pm Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale showed up and said a few things then lit the tree. Everyone cheered and all of a sudden it began to snow! The kids went wild (as well as some parents). Then a big float came in and there were carolers singing some holiday songs. Very cool. Got video of all of this!

After that we went into the commissary to look around. Neat animation cells on the walls (got some pics!) and had something to drink. We walked over to Plutos corner, it is the one that has the famous lot direction sign you might of seen in Reluctant Dragon movie and we took some pics there too. Pluto's paw prints are in the cement near the fire hydrant, but only three paws are there...I wonder why?

We walked down to the studios screening room and took pictures of the handprints of the various Disney actors and legends in the cement there.
The animation building is across from the screening room and got neat pic of WD and the "no smoking" sign on the front door. HA HA. (WD was a smoker).

We walked back up to Pluto's corner and Chip, Dale, Mickey and Minnie showed up. Got our pics taken with them! Then we walked over to the Roy Disney buidling and went into the lobby area. They had a neat displays for Walle (Pixar 2008), Hannah Montana and National Treasure, Book of Secrets. There is really beautiful Disney artwork on the walls in the lobby area.

We then walked back through the Plaza area and got some more pics. You can climb up onto the Walt and Mickey statue - totally cool! We took a neat pic of all of our hands with Walt and Mickey.

Then we went over to the Frank Wells Building. This is where the archives are stored. We just went into the lobby area. They had a EPCOT 25 anniversary display, Zorro display, Goofy display and HSM2 costume display up. In the hallway area they had the Multiplane camera display setup. This was the machine they used to make the movie Snow White. Very very cool! Got some neat pics of that too.

Since it was getting late and we hadn't had dinner we decided to leave the studios and eat at Bob's Big Boy. This is the last one in the Los Angeles area. It sure tasted good!

We had a awesome night - lots of pics and videos to share with you all. I am going to break it down into a couple of shows and put some extra work on the presentation.

Lets' see what am I up to today...

I am celebrating the arrival of my new niece.

My little brother and his wife welcomed their first child yesterday a little girl they named Meredith (a family name). We are so excited and so happy for them. This is my sister in law who was serving in Afghanistan this time last year. It is so nice to see such a joyous event for them. Yahhh!!!!

Unfortunatly for me they work out of CFB Edmonton, Alberta.... so we are along way away and I can't see her. But I may have to plan another trip west soon.

Sea~ Loved the video. Of course I teared up when it started snowing and they were playing 'let it snow". AND I see enough of it here in PGH. There's nothing like snow where it ain't supposed to be snow. We loved it when we saw it in FL on Main st.
