Thanks..... i needed some mayer hugs.....;)

WOW :confused3 i never realized how hard it was going to be to pick out restaurants to eat.... i'm getting the disney dining deluxe plan so i get 3 meals a day... it is hard to find restaurants.... whewww:confused: :faint:

Mornin everyone else...:coffee:

So I'm trying to give up my fave coffee creamer, because I think it has too much sugar in it. And I'm trying to learn to drink the stuff black. I'm not loving me some coffee time right now.:scared:

We went out last night to a Japanese steak house. Yum, yum.

SIL just left to go back to SC. With no end in sight to the teachers strike, we might have to drive down there ourselves.:) The news on the strike is that it could be a month before the kids go back to school. I'm disgusted.

We found a couch yesterday that we like for the basement. It's a leather sectional from Macy's. It's on backorder until Nov. 25th, but I haven't seen anything else I like. Goodbye, WDW trip.:sad1:

Is everyone still asleep?:dance3:

Jo

Hi Jo -

That is so unfair to the kids and the parents. Can you imagine the child care hassle for the single parents or the ones who both parents work during this strike? Plus, after it is over, your kids are going to have to go to school for an extra days to keep in compliant the mandatory school days. That is going to interrupt a lot of peoples summer time vacations. These teachers need to get back to teaching.

Sorry to hear your WDW is on hold for now. Good news on the couch though.

Keep wishing...maybe something will change. :wizard:

Thanks, Seacrest.:goodvibes As far as the teachers go and their salaries...
they are wanting a 6-7% increase in pay, the district has said 4% and no more. The teachers don't want to contribute $20 (!!!!!) towards healthcare; they want it for *free*.

And, now we have heard that the strike will go on for a long time. So to get the mandatory # of days in, the children might be required to go on Christmas Eve. Yes, I said Christmas Eve. They will be off for Chrismas Day and New Years Day, but they will have to go the days in between.:sad2:

Sorry, not my kids. We were willing to go to school now, the teachers weren't, so that is just too bad. Put me in jail, but my children will be allowed to have a Christmas Break. They will not be punished for a decision the teachers have made.

I know your wife was a teacher. Do they have to belong to a Union out there???

Just wondering how it is in Cali.

Jo

I would keep my kids out too. I'm right behind you Jo...... the looks look forward to their break.....

Good Afternoon and Thanks for the Congrats MAYers!!

I already have Disneyitis (that's like senioritis)....I can't concentrate on anything else right now....I was grinnin' like a fool all day, even during my midterm exam this afternoon (which went well i think)

I also added a new ticker! I spent 30 minutes talking to DVC Member Services making reservations....I think the lady wanted to strangle me by the end, but I'm staying at Saratoga from 1/15-1/20 and the Contemporary on the 20th since SSR wasn't available and I'm waitlisted at VWL and BWV as well to hopefully end up there instead of SSR.

OMG!!!!!!!

Sulley!!! You are soooooo cool! I am so excited that one of us MAYers has been accepted into the Program.:flower3: I am just so happy for you. AND, some (okay everyone but me) of the MAyers will be there and will get to see you in action! How perfect!!!!:woohoo:

Will this position push your graduation out a semester, or how does that work? I can't wait to hear the details.popcorn::

:cheer2: YAY for you, my friend.

:snooty: :snooty:
(You got the position, you know, because there is no denying it, you have that special :snooty: air about you.:upsidedow )

Let the Bananas dance! YAY for Sulley!!!!!

Jo

Thanks Jo!!!!!
I'll still graduate when I was expecting, but since I knew I was going to apply I already had figured in an extra semester. It also counts for two of my mini-internships required to graduate, so it all works out in the end

Good Morning MAYers!! :goodvibes

Ummm....I really don't have a park preference, I enjoy them all, and there are pros and cons to all of them. I think it'd be fun to work at any of them.

Jo

My wife has always taught in private school schools - so no union experiences to talk about there. I don't think we have had a strike out here for decades.

I can understand your frustration. I would love to pay $20.00 for my health insurance. Right now, my costs are near $900.00 a month, of course I would like to pay nothing for my health insurance just like the next person, but come on...$20 bucks?

Strikes always have a bad affect on kids. The reason is because they take the kids out of the routine of going to school on a regular basis. Ever noticed when you came back from summer vacation, it took you a few weeks even a month or so to get back into the routine.

The teachers need to grow up. Negotiate while still teaching. They need to think about how this will affect the kids, and not about themselves. If they don't like the pay they get from teaching, go find another profession.

I wouldn't send my kids to school on Christmas eve anyways. We celebrate both days during that time of year. I am behind you 100%!
