Day 2: Happy Birthday Mom! Happy Mothers Day to both of us!
We had set a wake up call for 7 am this morning. When it rang, I was surprised to hear Stitch on the other end. I don't think we used wake up calls last trip. I was groggy, but excited to start the day. My DH jumped in the shower and the boys got dressed and the three of them went to the food court for breakfast. My DH split the adult breakfast platter with DS8 and my DS12 ate the kids chocolate chip pancakes. I thought it was strange that with the adult breakfast, you now get an entree and two beverages (at least at POP this is true...my DH had breakfast at the GF later in the week and you only got one beverage). My DH would have preferred a beverage and a fruit, since we had the refillable mug too...but oh well. He split a juice with DS8 and got a bottle of water for the road. The kids meal only comes with one small beverage, so DS12 got the small chocolate milk.
While DM and I got ourselves together, DH called to see what we wanted for breakfast. We decided to split one adult breakfast platter, we got waters for the road, and we got coffee/tea in our refillable mugs. DH and the boys brought our food back to the room for us and we ate quickly and headed out to the bus stop for Epcot.
I've lost all track of time, but I believe we were in Epcot by 9:30 and it was dead. DH ran off to the Land for fast passes for Soarin, while DM, and the DS's and I looked for their Leave a Legacy tile from our 2004 trip. It took us a while, but we found it and took some photos. In the meantime, DH was trying to call my cell phone to tell me that there was no wait for Soarin at all, but I never heard the phone. Oh well. I then pulled my cell phone out to call him (oops, 3 missed messages), and we met up outside of Mission Space. We were going to do Test Track, but it was down at the time. We did the mild version of MS (DH did the orange). My DS8 was nervous as could be, and almost baled...but I'm glad he stuck with it because he loved it!!
OK, here's where things get sketchy....I can't remember what we did next. I think we headed back over to innoventions and hung out in West for a few minutes. We left there and headed over to the Living Seas. No line for the new Nemo ride so we hopped on that. Went to wait for Turtle Talk with Crush (our first time seeing this, and we LOVED it, Dude!). Left the Living Seas to head to the Land for our Soarin fastpass time. Soarin was awesome as always. I just love that ride!!
We skipped the figment ride this time, the kids had no interest in riding it again. Oh, we went into Club Cool for the first time. They loved trying all the sodas. We liked China the best, and Italy the least. Italy's was really rough!
We started off for the world showcase, by headed left towards Mexico. We went inside for the revamped ride, which was a little lame in my opinion. After the ride, DS8 had to find a restroom immediately, so DH asked a CM where the closest one was. Well, not the greatest directions, she sent him in the wrong direction. DS8 was not a happy camper at this point, and after asking 2 more CM's, we finally found the restroom around the corner from the Margarita stand. What a perfect location....a Margarita sounds great about now. DH and I split a fiesta margarita, which is a layered mix of all of their flavors. It was very good...mmmm...very good!
We continued our walk, not really stopping to see alot. We ended up in China, had some photopass photos done, and went inside to listen to the woman play the silk something-or-other while we waited for the movie. I don't remember ever having seen this movie, but it was nice. My kids liked it (they like that kind of stuff). When it was over, we went out to stake a spot for the acrobats (again, we've never seen them before). It was HOT HOT HOT out, and no shade. The kids were a little on the miserable side, but I made them stick it out. So glad I did, because those acrobats are amazing!
After the show, we were walking and soaking in the atmosphere, when I realized that we wanted to catch Off Kilter in Canada before our 4:10 ADR at Le Cellier. We walked a little faster, and managed to catch the last half of the show. They are so awesome, and funny! My DS8 loves bagpipes, so he was watching intently.
After Off Kilter, we headed into Canada, and hit a gift shop. DS8 spotted a stuffed Husky which he just had to adopt, so he purchased him and got an adoption certificate too. We finished there, and went down to Le Cellier at 4:00 pm. We checked in and they noted that it was my DM's birthday. While we waited, 2 CM's came up to her and said they wanted to sing her a personalized birthday song, but they needed some personal info first. Things like favorite color, favorite Disney character, was she a good driver, etc. They were really funny, trying to come up with lyrics together....so they were ready. They started singing "This is your birthday song. It isn't very long. Happy birthday......" and that was it. My DM thought it was cute and we all had a laugh. We still hadn't been called for our table, and DS8 spotted Coda from Brother Bear, with no line. We hightailed it back to the front entrance so he could get a photo with him, and on our way back down, I saw DH flagging us down. Our table was ready.
Our server was very nice and allowed us to make substitutions for DS8 and my DM. DS8 started with fruit salad instead of the other apps. He had a hot dog (I think!) and fries, and skipped dessert because he was so full. DM and I had the Cheese Soup (mmmm!), the Mushroom Filet (but DM had the mashed potatoes with hers instead of the risotto)...YUMMMMMY!!!!, and we both had the Creme Brulee sampler for dessert....to die for!!! DS12 had the cheese soup, the maple bbq filet, and the chocolate cake boxed to go. DH had the cheese soup, the maple bbq filet, and the sorbet sampler. Everything was delish in a dish!! To quote my favorite food network chef...YUMM-O!
After dinner, we headed back around again and landed in the gift shop in Italy, so DS12 could get an Italia shirt. Then onto Japan to get some candy (they love this!), and then to the Flower Power concert to see Davey Jones. There were tons of people waiting in line very early on for these concerts, which I thought was nuts. Why waste park time sitting on line?? We got there as the line was moving through, and we were at the end. We walked right in and got great seats up front, under the awning, to the left of the stage. We had a great view. The concert was really good....amazing how he still can dance and move at his age! We were trying to figure out how old he was (he's older than my DM)....anyway...loved hearing all the old songs, and "Girl" from the famous Brady Bunch episode.
After the concert, the boys again politely asked if we could skip Illuminations and go back to Pop to swim. Hmmmm....noticing a trend here. So we walked towards the front, exited, hopped the bus, and arrived back at Pop. They wanted to swim in the Hippy Dippy pool tonight, so that's what we did. After the swim, DH went down to the food court to get a milk for them to share, and both boys shared DS12's chocolate cake from Le Cellier for a snack. Everyone showered, melted into bed, and got a good night's sleep for day 3...Animal Kingdom
