As far as the teachers go and their salaries...
they are wanting a 6-7% increase in pay, the district has said 4% and no more. The teachers don't want to contribute $20 (!!!!!) towards healthcare; they want it for *free*.
And, now we have heard that the strike will go on for a long time. So to get the mandatory # of days in, the children might be required to go on Christmas Eve. Yes, I said Christmas Eve. They will be off for Chrismas Day and New Years Day, but they will have to go the days in between.
Sorry, not my kids. We were willing to go to school now, the teachers weren't, so that is just too bad. Put me in jail, but my children will be allowed to have a Christmas Break. They will not be punished for a decision the teachers have made.
I know your wife was a teacher. Do they have to belong to a Union out there???
